Hello, I am bake1944 from Castile, NY and am also a new member and trying to figure all this out.
I CAN use some help please. I was out snowthrowing this morning with my 2176 cub cadet and the PTO stopped working. I backed up (which stopped the PTO) and now it won't restart.
How do you disconnect that REVERSE SAFTEY SWITCH ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

Follow the linkage from the forward/reverse pedal and you'll see the switch. Liklely it's packed with snow and stuck. After you see it likely you'll figure out how easy it is to bypass.

Thank you for the reply..
I followed the linkage from the floor pedal across to the left side of the tractor and back by the rear wheel. The linkage looks like it goes into the trans. I see no wires or switchs. ???

I agree. I needed to find the little spring on my 2185.

On a related note, I had a problem with the parking brake safety switch apparatus, that originally looked like a seat switch problem... The engine would stall when I would get off the seat with the parking brake on.

Turns out, the flimsy spring steel clip for the parking brake switch was cracked, and not applying enough pressure unless I happened to be sitting on the tractor...! I removed the that spring steel clip to examine it, saw the crack, and decided not to replace it with a new one of the same design.

.

Take off the deck, crawl under the right foot well and look up. Can't hardly miss it. Mine 'fell off' the first week after bringing it home.
