There comes a point of diminishing returns unless you have time to kill or make it personal.

Again, my experience with insurance is they only do the minimum needed and often only when compelled.

Documentation is your friend...

If the claim is large, you could always turn it over to a private adjustor... they get a percentage and trust me... they know all the ins and outs and don't have to bluff.

I guess I look at this a little different than most, probably more like your parents are looking at it, while I'm in 100% agreement that the driver of the jeep was way wrong and out of line and either he or his insurance should have to make your parents property, fence, tree's etc,etc whole so everyone can get back to normal. What I do not agree with are the many post's wanting to charge large storage fees etc, I would just want to do what is fair because I know if it can happen it will happen and you usually get what you give.

I am curious about the driver's insurance accepting liability for this. My policy clearly states Liberty Mutual will not provide liability coverage for any person who "intentionally causes bodily injury or property damage."

Several here are, I believe, misinterpreting this. They (the insurance companies) are still liable to the other parties injured, but they will require full restitution from the insured.

The person who has the insurance does not get a free ride, but the insurance still pays to others.

Document all damages, make sure that everyone who sets foot on the property is a fully insured professional. Everything should be done at no loss or expense to your parents.

Update: Parents gave perps mom a reasonable price for the damage to be paid in cash BEFORE the jeep is moved. That does not include moving the jeep for them as he put it there, he can get it out. They still don't know if he had insurance.

I once had a parked motorcycle ran over by a car trying to park in the same spot. I saw it happen and was able to find the car that did it behind campus( I was in college). We had the same insurance company. The driver didn't want to file a claim. So the insurance company paid me, then sued her. I know this, because the agent was my uncle.
