I was just reading about fords new redesign of the F150 using a lot of beer cans. They hope the decrease of 700 lb's will improve mileage, but they really want to add that 700# to the advertised payload #'s. I was reading that basic repairs will be costly and require specially trained shops.
The issue I see with that is that I feel 11,300 lbs is to much for a light half ton already. I hope they don't try and raise the tow numbers. I don't think they should raise payload either a half ton just isn't robust enough for the weights ford is going for. I can see it now ford says the F150 can haul 4,000 lbs in the bed. Then comes the massive failures like the tire and suspension debacle of the explorer. Leave the half tons in the payload range the current F150 is in now and keep the tow rating at 10,000 lbs no more no less. If you need more capability buy a 3/4 or 1 ton. It's just safer that way.
