From what i remember reading it uses a timed relay... I dont know that i would want it on all the time, rear window maybe, but rear and quarters i would imagine is quite the load on the charging system. Especially when you throw in front, rear, head and tail lights... Radio, wipers etc. Plus it is dummy proof in the sense you wont be summer heating your glass. Either way i would imagine if you found a diagram you could probably rewire it for a standard switch and relay setup.

I am not sure how your B3030 is wired but something doesn't seem right. I have a B3030 and can open the rear window without unpluging the rear defrost. I would think you should be able to do the same.
That's what I was getting at. I'm sure I shouldn't have to unplug it, but I do. The wire is on the top of the glass where it is hinged and looks like it belongs there, but it gets pulled tight by the amount the top of the glass moves. Hard to describe I guess. I am assuming it isn't supposed to be that way and somewhere in it's past life before I owned it the wire got pulled too tight somewhere between the switch and the glass. It is probably a simple fix but I only think of it when I open the window while using it and then forget about it before I have time to look into it. If it wasn't 10 degrees out I would go fix it right now while I was thinking about it. I only mentioned it as I figured it would be a good thing to check while he was installing the kit.

I didnt get the quarter and rear defrosters in mine and I dont have any issues at all with them fogging up, when I warm mine up I get the inside of the cab good and warm and then after a few mins I start to cut the heat back till I get to my comfort zone, mostly I run mine on level 1 (once its good and warm in the cab) with the temp range at about 1/2 way and I havent had any issues with them fogging. I do it that way because I operate a CAT D6R WX at work and they dont come with the defoggers so ive had alot of practice with this situation.

You guys without the side/rear defrost option, does making adjustments to the vents, cracking windows and a/c on make fogging a non issue or just better. My question, is the defrost kit a waste of money? If you had it to do over would you add it to the options list?

Thanks,

Rick

I have the defrost on the rear window but not the rear sides yet, but I'm going to . The truth is the only time I use my rear defrost is if it's snowing out (melts it fast)or I want to clear up the window quick, or if there's ice on it. Most of the time it's just the vents/AC/ heat on low-mid. and that works good. I could maybe see if it was really cold out:eek:and you wanted to put some of the vents pointed at you ,then the defrost would help alot. I have to say most of the time you couldn't run your heater on high for long or it would drive you out, even if you had a t-shirt on.:D

I can be out blowing snow for 5 to 7 hours at a time and even with the A/C running it can still fog up inside without the defrost running. This may in part be caused by snow blowing back on the glass. I am in the cab in shirt sleeves, but still have to keep the temperature control about half way between cold and hot or I would melt in there. At times I will open a side vent window but cannot always keep them open because of the blowing snow.

You nailed my problem completely. I get so darn hot inside trying to deal with windows. I just want to hit the switch and then let the heater worry about heating me lol.

I gather from someone's comment here that the B3030HSDC has a REAR defogger as an option, but does it have defoggers for the rear quarter windows, as well?

Are the defoggers the "grid style" of wire in/on the glass, or a force air type?

Can things like a rear wiper and defogger (and rear quarter defoggers, if they exist for the B3030HSDC be added by the dealer, or must the tractor be ordered that way, from Kubota?

Thanks,

My Hoe

The B3030HSDC just has a back glass and the side glass but not the rounded quarter windows as on the L series tractors. The rear wiper and rear defrost can be ordered as a dealer installed option. The rear defrost is a new rear glass with the "grid style" wire in the glass. It also comes with a heavier alternator.

Kubotafan,

Thanks for the education, and explanation--I didn't realize there were no rear quarter windows, either--much appreciated!
