So I got some real use out of the new floor and the ballast box. Here's the proof. Having the concrete sure made stacking hay easy. I don't think I would have wanted to use the Bale Sweep without some kind of rear ballast. Mine worked great.

Eddie,
It is called Prosper Plus with Peas.
A mix of Oats-Barley-Wheat and Peas. Four things cows love and will grow very good on. It sure smells good while curing in the barn.

Can you stack bales between the trusses? It looks like you are almost out of room so I wonder if you could fit another 50 - 100 if you stacked them higher. Just a thought, especially if you get a second cutting.

Yes I could go between the trusses and fit more, but there will not be another cut. Way to dry here in Utah for those who don't have water rights. I have all I need plus I sold 91 bales. I do have a bigger barn if I really needed more room. My Avatar is the bigger barn.

I figured my ballast box has had enough curing time. (3.5 weeks) So I did a job of moving a small pile of road base and filling in a couple holes around my place.
WOW, is how I would describe the difference in how the tractor performed with the box on. Not only did it stay planted to the ground while lifting a full bucket load, it had a lot more traction moving into the pile of road base.
I'm sure those of you that use a ballast box are nodding your heads thinking, yea, we already knew all that. So for those who do not have a ballast box, go ahead and build or buy one. You will not regret it.

When I bought my tractor & implements, I didn't include a ballast box as I simply didn't know such a thing existed. However...

After the last of my implements were delivered to my property, personally by the Salesman; I noticed that he had left behind a Ballast Box (which I hadn't ordered). I tried it out and found it a very handy addition. I emailed the Salesman to inform him that the Ballast Box had been left behind and that I liked it and would pay for it.

The reply, via the owner of the dealership, was "Complimentary."

Nothing beats free.

I really like the way the tractor feels with the ballast box on. At some point I'd still like to load the rear tires with Rim Guard.

Curiosity has got the best of me. I was looking through some old threads and came across this one. It's five years old and I don't even live at the same place but, how many out there added concrete to the "dirt floor" barns and how many built or bought ballast boxes? I honestly can't imagine life without the ballast box now. These bales weigh about 1300 pounds each. I would not be able to lift them without the ballast box. I have also added rim guard to the rears.

Where are you storing those giant square bales?

Hopefully the barn in his Avatar! I do like the ballast box too, I still use my heavy box blade and I like wheeling around with the tractor in 2wd doing loader work, but something smaller would be handy sometimes.
