Replace secondary (inner) air filter?

The L2800 does no come with an inner filter (it's listed as an option), I bought one and installed it figuring it was cheap insurance. The part guy said "yes it's cheap insurance and you only have to buy it once. It will last forever." I put a filter minder on the housing to ensure I could tell if the outer filter gets dirty.

Just curious, doid you have to change out the canister, or just put it in. on my L it is listed as a different filter and canister I think. My air filter as the opening at both ends, I think the dual set up filter is closed up at one end. Sort of cheap to just leave it out IMO.

The canister does not have to be changed.

I had the secondary installed since day one.

Interesting. I picked up the primary and secondary at the 50 hr mark but returned the secondary once I opened things up and realised that there was no inner filter.

I might as well pick one up and keep it in there. Then again, the outer is probably more than good enough and I will change it regularly.

big bubba - Thanks! I just off the telephone with Larry at Kubota Central. He said that the inner filter element is a safety net in case of damage/failure of the outer primary element. Although my casual observation of the inner element led me to believe that it has larger openings than the primary filter, Larry says that the inner element provides finer filtration. It can continue to be used until damage/failure of the primary element, or observable soiling of the secondary element. I intend to keep changing the primary element every 200 hours, but only replacing the secondary element as described above.

Thanks, again, to all!!! :)
People that give me info like that lose credibility unless they can substantiate their claim in an understandable manner. That Larry has contradicted himself.

I don't understand, Larry contradicted my casual observation, not himself.
