I don't understand, Steve. The starter flange has two bolts that hold it onto the flywheel case. The through-bolt is what bolts the motor to the mounting flange. . . I believe from the illustration on Messicks.com. BTW: The original starter had 11 teeth and the replacement has 9. Messicks parts list says that the 9-tooth is fine to use. They may have reduced the number of teeth to give the starter more applied torque to the flywheel.
