I am struggling with the fact that the L4760 is $1,000 more than the M but you are getting more hp, steel, and tractor with the M. It just doesn't add up.

No it doesn't. A new L6060 should be about $1,000 less than an M6060.

In Post #7 you indicated the Grand L tractor you demoed had a cab, the 'M' did not. About $7,000 difference in price between heat and A/C equipped cab tractors and open station tractors.

I feel that the grand L will be enough 90% of the time but then it's really hard to ignore the fact that the m is just so much more tractor for less money. Why I do not know. Also I should note the 'm' I test drove was open station because they did not have the cab model at that location.

I suggest you go to Kubota's web site and use BUILD MY KUBOTA in a disciplined fashion to option both tractors similarly. This will require thirty minutes max. Process will likely illuminate.

Those that make the best decisions tractor shopping, especially across multiple brands, spreadsheet tractor specifications.

if you do a google search on the model number you are interested in, and then add "Kubota" and "Messicks" you will bring up some excellent videos. i.e. google: " L4760 Kubota Messicks" or "M6060 Kubota Messicks "

Thank you everyone for all the great advice and insight. I wish I could say I have made up my mind but based on everything I have learned I would say I am more confused at this point ! I think the thing I am struggling with the most is the fact that the L4760 is $1,000 more than the M but you are getting way more hp, steel, and tractor with the M. It still just doesn't add up. I must be missing something ? Also does anyone know first hand if the m6060 with r4 tires would fit under an 8 foot garage door ?

Step 1 is to figure out what you dont know. Then reevaluate all your previous ignorant assumptions. Ignorance is just the lack of knowledge & can be resolved with research or learning, unlike stupid. So you are on the right track asking the right questions, it takes a while to learn something new. It's harder when you dint know what you dont know.

90% of the time people get to small of a machine or TBN recomends going bigger. It should be telling that pretty much all the recomendations here are to go smaller.

You seem to be hung up on two things, price and horsepower, if you can't see beyond that you will never understand. You have been given good advice by some TBN members whose knowledge is accepted by other users. It would take more than a page to compare side by side and you would still be scratching your head. More than a few of us have come close to or have bought the wrong first tractor, it happens.

It was brought up earlier, there are many tractors that will work as well or better and quite a few are cheaper. Take a deep breath and look at other brands and models. Just in the Kubota lin an MX will do anything a Grand L will and a lot cheaper if you don't n33e a cab.

Jeff or someone else wrote to priorities one time tasks to ongoing. You cam always rent for the one time and save money on a smaller tractor.

EDIT: Fallon makes some really good points.

So, to summarise:

1. The grand L has more features - it's the top spec model in the L series. They may be features you don't want or need, but that's the reason it's the most expensive Grand L. In particular, the cab is adding about $7K to the price

2. The M is the cheapest M you can buy, and is open station. There's a lot more metal and HP in it, but there are a bunch of other features that aren't there. The cab being the obvious one, but also a lot of comfort features. For example, the Grand L has a mid-PTO, and you're talking about a snow blower. Snow blowing with a cab and front snowblower is a lot nicer than snow blowing without a cab and with a rear mount snow blower.

3. There's a model in between that you've skipped over, the MX. It would have more metal and HP than the Grand L as well, a bit less than the M, and cost less than either

4. Like others, I'm in the category of thinking that's far too much tractor for 2.5 acres. But the B01 I'm buying is too much tractor for my less than 1 acre, and I want it so I'm buying it anyway. I think it's fine to buy more tractor than you need, but if that's what you're doing then you're buying it because you want it. Getting hung up on specs when both of them are massively overpowered for your needs is a bit pointless - if you're buying it to satisfy your wants then sit on them both and buy the one that makes you happy. If that's the M, then buy the M.

I wrote ( the one I test drove did not have a cab). The price I e been given is for a cab m6060 with loader, 42,900, or a l4760 cab with loader, $ 44,000

And you can get a machine to do everything you want/need for about half of that.

Do you have a full scale model yacht for your bath tub toy?

Stripping off & sorting a foot of material (half dirty rock, half clay) over 3,600sqft & grading things out was well under a weekends work. I could have done it in a day if I didnt do the edging my hand. Probably 3-4 dumptrucks of material. Spreading the old rock & new material would take under a day of I could get the several trucks of new recycled concrete at once. Budget will slow that a bit. My old L3200 at half the price of my L4060HSTC would have been 35% slower maybe.

I dont have any desire for a bigger machine even if it was free on this job really as space is tight enough. 20190707_121204.jpg
