Sometime back , probably in Build it Yourself or Projects I found a reference, or maybe a link to another website. Fella had built a homemade ring roller. Don't remember what the original thread was about. If anybody remembers please point me in the right direction. Have done various searches to no avail.

thanks dullpain

I have seen that roller from the frugalmachinist. Neat design. However I think you can make the rollers from a scrap piece of solid round bar and bore out the center on a lathe a lot cheaper since that DOM tubing is rather expensive. This project is on my to do list if I ever get around to it.

As this is a TRACTOR forum, I was just wondering if you were asking about a ring roller for a tractor. I don't recall the old thread and the search function is so slow today, I gave up. One thing I did discover while searching Yahoo is that some mfg's seem to call them ring pulverizers or floating-ring pulverizers. Schmeiser roller and cultipacker seemed to be related results too.
Anyway, I'd be interested if you ever find the thread too if that's what you're looking for.
Cheers!

That's cool! I don't have a use for it on a tractor, and I'm OK with that. I do have a use for it though, and will build one in the future. Thanks again guys.

BobinMin - That is a nice roller!!

Don’t know how to post a link, maybe after this I will learn as it will be painful. The post I was referring to is in “Kubota Quick Attach” posted by john300exc, in the Kubota Owning/Operating forum, a reply in that thread by Slowzuki had a reference/ link to www.machine builders.net where I found ring roller someone had made.

HomeBrew2 - This is not about a ring pulverizer, cultipacker, or any tractor attachment. This is a tool that allows one to ROLL RINGS from flat steel , round or square steel stock for fabricating other useful items.

All that being said I have spent the last few days searching other welding / metal fab discussion boards for ideas / plans to build a Ring Roller. Found several good and bad designs. Problem is some of these sites won’t allow you to view pics that are posted without being a registered member, so can‘t tell if that particular design is good or bad. I’m not interested in signing up to 14 different boards just to search for this as time will not allow me view that many boards.

You can buy a Ring Roller commercially available , from $99 on ebay , $800 from Shop Outfitters , or $8,000 for a large industrial powered professional roller. Ebay item is a toy, Shopoutfitters is nice but out of my budget and I would like more capacity than it offers, Definitely don’t need or can afford 8 grand for industrial model.

Now can anybody help me in this quest - or better yet does anybody want to? What I propose is a collaboration of members here that may be interested in building their own Ring Roller.

What will DullPain do? Willing to cut and weld steel (have some scrap), have some pieces / parts such as rollers that could be machined into dies , pillow block bearings, shafts, etc.

What does DullPain need? I have no way of machining. No lathe, No mill. Could foresee that both operations may be needed to complete one of these devices. I will not ask anyone to do more than I am willing to do to get this thing completed. If you are interested and your work exceeds mine I‘m willing to compensate that party accordingly. There is a talented, diverse crowd of decent people here, just thought I would try to draw from it.

thanks
