I'm kind of insulted that they think my new trail is ugly.

I think it looks very nice!

What you might do, and this is a long shot is meet their needs. The little boy likes the old path for walking. What if you approaced them and siad that you agree with them, that the old path really IS a nicer walking path and what about if you configured the old path and posted at your expense a sign with two arrows,
Arrow Right- Strictly walking path
Arrow Left - non motorized vehicle path.
Tell him you have been thinking of it and you agree with him and his little boy that the old path is a nicer path for walking and could you work together towards that end?

Pictures seem to have disappeared.

Still does-not-compute as to why he would pull down and destroy my "No motorized vehicles" and "No dumping" signs / posts, when we both want the same thing.

I see where you're going, but at no point are any of the paths really "obstructed". It's a field. Quads / motorcycles / pedestrians can just go around any obstacles.

Sort of like a "keep off the grass" sign. Easily ignored.

The signs were at the intersection. When given the choice, the majority of folks were abiding the "no motorized vehicles" sign and driving on the new path.

I kind of speculate some people just don't like change.

If both trails are open, Drive your UTV a bunch of times on the new trail, and maybe that will become the default trail. I still say plant some flowers across the old trail. If that kid felt bad about a tree, maybe he won't want to hurt flowers.

That's pretty much where my head was at. Even so far as to leave both trails open and let the people decide.

I just walked out and found he's been busy today!

Note the busted beer bottles.

In retrospect, I wish I would have affixed some 2x4's in an "X" pattern on the landscape timbers before I planted them. Wouldn't have been so easy to just lift out.

At this point I'm just shaking my head and chuckling.

I'd be lying if I said I haven't been thinking about it.

On the one hand, nobody has been blasting around the corner lately. Peace and quiet. That's really all I was after.

On the other hand, he busted up my signs, uprooted and moved my signposts, scattered trash, and broke beer bottles (glass) all over my new trail.

Running out of hands, but from another perspective, I don't use either trail, so it sorta makes no difference to me.

Another aspect is that people like to walk / run / jog and walk their dogs on the groomed trails. Pisses me off that he's now busting glass all over them.

My thinking right now is if the loud motorized vehicles ever become a problem in the future, I'll reevaluate.

I could always create a new path, but that's Plan B, or C, or somewhere down the line.
