I have a rock in the way of some dock we want to put along shore, it's showing about 24" wide and maybe 28-30" tall, but
no idea of how big it really is, can't see it all yet.
i tried chipping with a pick axe, it seems pretty hard, has some color to it,
we're located in upstate NY,
any thoughts on what type of rock?
would Dexpan work to break it up?
if so, what type of bit to drill the hole?

thanks!

Pretty sure it's limestone..

Get a concrete bit , Rock type doesn't matter.
Granite or a similar igneous Rock from picture

Dexpan or Ecobust May work. The product has a temperature range so make sure you are in it. You will need to drill the right sized hole- 1” if memory serves me right. Too small and not enough pressure and too big and you can over heat and cause the pressure to go up instead of out. I’d give the odds at 70/30 if you do everything per instructions and 10/90 if you don’t follow instructions to a “T”- Been their and done that......

might be easier to just jog the deck out for that 2nd section, offset it,
would only need to be offset about 1 foot.. and wouldn't be horrible
as the lateral run for the boat could could be right where the offset is

I've always thought that man-made objects look more attractive when built around the natural rock and trees. Kinda ties them into the setting.

we did offset the 2nd section of dock to go around the big rock, it's going to be fine. still have to finish with the
steps and corner dock piece, but with this 2nd piece of dock we gained a much wider swim area, and will
have easier access onto the front of the boat from the dock.

finally got the boat in monday, and the corner wedge and stairs, coming nice,
wife is happy with the larger swimming area by the stairs for the smaller grandkids.

can't say that the rock and jog in the dock is an issue at all.
