as I have stated from day 1 here, you can use any oil in any engine as long as it passes their respective spec's. Rotella does nothing better, in terms of warranty, then Amsoil, Redline, Fleetgaurd etc.

No manufacture can deny anything. That is wrong and lets see that date provided to back it up? And how do they (Dodge, Ford, Chevy) prove that someone even install the Rotella oil? I asked (emailed) and called Amosil on this issue back in the late 90's, they even stated it is incorrect and wrong.

So I take it and I can fill my engine with Rotella and go 20K miles and I will not "run afoul of the warranty police"as you stated since it is "Rotella approved"? Seems pretty far out there.

Ok Mike let's see your stats that cummins is #1? Let's see your test results from anyone other than amsoil that their oil is better. Let's see some independent tests.

The powerstroke from 1994-2004 was the longest lasting and most reliable engine according to statistics compiled for I believe JD Power and Associates. I don't have the time to go look it all up. If you want to go find it it's there. Call Ford themselves. I'm sure they'll be happy to supply you with the information. I had a cummins in 94 that was the biggest excuse for a truck that there was. Dodge bought it back after being in the shop for way more than 11 times. Does that mean that all the cummins are that way? I guess by your standards it sure does.

When you go in for warranty it is up to you to provide reciepts and dates for when you changed oil. It's up to you to provide the type of oil used and the filters used. You can be required to prove that the required mainenance was done. It's all in the owners manual if you would care to read it. No I'm not going to go scan it and post it here just for you.

Go to the dodge diesel forum and look it up! Go to BITOG and do some homework on oils. It is not that hard and it is very user friendly.

I would call Ford but their CSR are poor and I do not want a "cookie cutter" answer out of a book. When I had my lemon, I called Ford Corp and they were as much help has a computer engineer doing plumbing!

Hmm, I have never been asked to provide anything since I have been driving. The manual is only what they, manufacture, “recommends”. It does not state that I must adhere to anything. Go online and look up the word “recommend”. I went to Webster online (internet) and entered in the word. It stated, “to endorse or advise”. That is not that same as ahereing to, must do, to avoid…..So that part is flat out wrong.

This has been brought up time and time again without proof. Just because someone has receipts and dates means ZERO! I can put any date down and I can show receipts till you are blue in the face. It does not verify that the oil was installed or even installed correctly (and per specification). It also does not mean that the ides shown on the receipts were very installed.

As I have stated, along with my old Ford dealer and Amsoil, they will test the oil to see if it was directly responsible for the failure. If the oil did not cause the problem the warranty cannot be voided.

I know my manual does not even state recommendations. All my Lexus states is, "All we ask is that you show a reasonable effort to regularly maintain your vehicle."

What is Walmart's house brand called? Supertech, or something like that? I believe I recall the bottle also reading that it passed all requirements for the Cat, Cummins, Navistar etc. as well.

On your assertation of the durability of PowerStroke vs Cummins; we'll just have to agree to disagree. I tried to twist the facts to lean towards the PowerStroke, they just are not there. A better arguement would be which can put out the most power. That is closer. However, 5 of the 6 diesel drag race groups have a Cummins powered vehicle as the champion, a Cummins powered dragster currently holds the world record for the 1/4 mile, and all but one class in the diesel pickup truck pulls are topped by a Cummins powered engine. Don't believe me, look it up yourself. This is as close as it gets. When trying to look up durability, the PowerStroke did not fare as well in comparison. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Okay, I'll save you the trouble of looking them up; here is the DHRA champion list: http://www.dhraonline.com/?PAGE=champsindex

Fastest diesel pickup: http://www.bankspower.com/sidewinder-news.cfm

Fastest diesel dragster:

Most powerful production diesel pickup: http://www.cummins.com/na/pdf/en/products/dodgeram/Dodge_Press_Release.pdf

AutoWorld magazine stating that the Cummins is the most powerful and reliable with fewer moving parts etc.:

A quick look at eBay and I found 7 Cummins powered Dodges that have sold or are for sale with over 350,000 miles on them. None report to have been overhauled. I found 1 PowerStroke with over 250,000 miles on it that didn't state that it had been over hauled.

The PowerStroke is a good engine, and Rotella is a good oil. Your claims are just off base. I'm bored, you can do more research on your own. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Now we're talking about drag racing? Where did any of this come from? And now some reporter from autoworld is the expert. ROFL!!!!! Wow you guys are laughable. Have a nice day guys this has gotten passed ridiculous.

I think we passed ridiculous when someone pasted a group 3 oil was a top tier at 01/20/05 01:50 PM .

Now the "top teir" was and I quote, "When you go in for warranty it is up to you to provide reciepts and dates for when you changed oil.. No proof = false info and is against TBN policy. We needs mods here.

I agree, this post has lost it's interest for me. However, I posted a half a dozen links that prove your assertation is rediculous. Only your superior knowledge refutes all of those tests and actual performance marks. Unfortunately, when there are a lot of statistics to refute only your word, I have to, as you say, ROFLMAO about your credibility in what you assert. I tend to believe the actual results and the overwhelming facts over your word. Sorry. I'm disappointed. As you say, have a good day!
