Rust on our new BX2660

   / Rust on our new BX2660 #61
Dunlapjc: I hope you post back the condition of the Bx2660's on the other dealers lot (other than the one your after). I think youll find them rusted in the same places (other than the ROPS).

Kubota paint (espicially the grey) seems to be rather thin. The orange isnt so bad at least in my experience with b21 and b26's.

I dont believe that there was paint on the rusted places on your tractor to begin with (besides the ROPS). I suspect Kubota either doesnt paint those places or it was missed, but i suspect that their not concerned with painting them.

I beg to differ, I don't think he will find rust in the same places unless the tractor has been sitting outside for several months. My BX2350 is a year old and it doesn't look like those pictures at all. Mine is also stored inside when not in use. I suspect as others have said, it got exposed to some salt during shipping and then sat outside for a while.

I also beg to differ. I bought a BX2660 this year from Barlows and it did not have this rust problem. I also applaud your perseverance in getting this dealer problem corrected with the company. I do not feel it was luck, it was your efforts at correcting a wrong.:cool::cool:
Now let the rest of the naysayers step forward after they have been proven wrong by you and Kubota. Maybe they will post some :eek::eek::(:(:(:(:(:confused::confused: They will say it's just to get rid of you but I don't think so. Their:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:'s not mine.
APPLAUSE!APPLAUSE!APPLAUSE!

I'm glad to see Kubota stepped up and did the right thing, What are you going to get now?

It probably didn't help that it rained all through June and July in NH.

You started this thread with:
Then you discovered rust on delivery.

You are an "engineer... familar with the salt spray validation.." and corrosion, how did you miss it? Did they cover it up?

When you returned and . Is the dealer not going to paint all of those?

You posted in another thread that at first you were looking at paying a lot more than others were paying, then in this thread you posted you got a good deal.

Now you want a
Have you offered to pay full price?

It seems you did not pay full price, had ample opportunity to view the equipment, have not suggested that they switched equipment on you, have now compared it to actual new equipment and don't like the deal you received. The dealer came out and picked it up (around my area that would be a $150 truck roll) and repainted it to better condition than what is still sitting on his lot. What about the leak?

By all means take it to litigation, my wife's an attorney and all attorneys need work. It's part of the FEL Act (Full Employment for Lawyers). Litigation is the way of the country. But you should calculate how much litigation will cost in time, money, and dealership relationships versus what you will gain.

If your dealer leaves the equipment out in the weather and you can see it's rusted and faded, that's bad, but it's his equipment. If you buy it you bought it,

2. I'd expect him to maybe send someone out to touch it up.

good luck.

Very precise and well written. Glad for him that he didn't listen to you.:)

+1

I don't believe he saw the exact unit and trusted the dealer he would get a "new tractor".

Like when I got mine I drove one with R4's but wanted one with Turfs that they had in a crate in another store.

We all get excited when something like this is delivered and often overlook things. It's also not easy to argue with the "delivery guy".

This tractor needed a bit more than "touch up".

Some painted parts are baked on (or what ever costly process they use these days) at the factory that a dealer cannot repeat. It's one thing to touch up a Rim or a Bucket but it's obvious from the pics there was no way to restore the ROPs to factory finish that will last many many years as it should.

He also shouldn't have to trust the dealer that it is "as good as new" because they say so when they never should have delivered it like that in the first place.

If the dealer had cleaned it up properly and perhaps replaced a few key parts they never would have had an issue.

Congrats on getting the contract torn up!
I would also wonder who this dealer is as I live in NH.
I bought mine from Hawkenson's (which is now owned by MB)
Have had NO issues and a great warranty experience from MB over in Plaistow...so I can't figure the dealer's reluctance to replace your defective purchase with one that you're satisfied with...

Well i was out for a picnic today enjoying the heat. So i stopped in at the local Kubota dealer.

Unfortunately there were no Bx2660's around, however there was a BRAND new Bx25. This one looks right out of the box.

As i suspected there was no paint on the adjustment knob and its already showing a rust spot. Have a look at the attached pic. Obviously Kubota doesnt consider surface rust on this part an issue. About the only problem that the OP has that would concern me is the damaged paint on the ROPS.

The OP's tractor was nothing special as far as the paint treatment. It appears that there all painted in the same manner.

Remember these are relatively inexpensive tractors, and one place where theres cost savings is in the paint prep. I suspect this part is masked of when the chassis is painted before the body goes on, to keep paint out of the splines.

From what i saw, none of the tractors on site had a similar seat to the OP so i could not get pics of any rust or lack of paint that may be there.
