Well today it happened. I just signed a contract at 3:30 Friday afternoon to add on to a commercial building I own . This was after 9 months of back and forth negotiations. Not a lot of money in this but will ( hopefully ) keep tenants happy for next 10 to 20 years.
Wife and kid want to go horse show tomorrow. I need my 2001 for work tomorrow, that means my 2013 with 1723 will be put into Horse Duty. Truck cost me $64,000 and has not had its first oil change. I hate the thought of my new ride coming home with horse poop on floor also dirty nasty.
I know a lot of you guys have more money than me but a $ 64,000 truck is a big deal to me and will probably be the last one I buy in my life.
I would love to hear your input or thoughts.
PS 2013 is in driveway with horse trailer hooked to it. Hope it comes back looking close to what it looks like now.

I would not let it leave my sight. $64,000 is a lot of money to me also.

I feel for you. My truck isn't that expensive but I too have similar issues. I keep it shined and pristine but also use it to work and play hard. We often are taking motorcycles to off road trails and have to pack home about 30 pounds of muddy clothes and boots. Not to mention how sweaty and smelly we are when finished. Nothing a couple hours of cleaning can't fix.

$64,000 is not only a big deal to me, but far beyond anything I'll ever be able to afford unless I win the lottery.:laughing:

What did you buy the truck for? Make sure they change boots before getting into it.

I would use it! But, get some of the floor mats that are like a plastic pan. I did when I got my truck in '01; really helped contain stuff like that(rode dirt bikes, had horses back when, camped, fished, hauled Scouts on camping trips). Also, a set of washable seat covers.

Boots come off before getting in the truck, just like coming in the house. Change in to a pair of sneakers or something; keep a milk crate for the dirty boots.

I liked the washable seat covers, because when we had horses, I always seemed to end up covered in blonde or black(Palamino or back Thoroughbred) hair. Especially Palamino, cause would ride bareback.

Now we have German Shepherd Dog again; I think she outsheds anything on the planet, year round...

It's just a truck. If something happens to it, that's why you pay for insurance. Too many people hung up on material things that don't really matter in the "big picture". If it comes back a mess, make someone clean it.

NC;

Take a look at the WeatherTech floor mats. They will solve your muddy boots problems. They are precision fits for specific vehicles and come on many colors. I have had them in all 6 of the F-350s we have owned. Easy to clean with a hose. I usually find best prices thru Amazon.com

Good luck.

I have to agree with Rick. I purchased these for my Sierra Denali (front and back) and it's good for both work and play, boots or dress shoes.

Ditto on the Weathertech. Great stuff and reasonably priced. I also bought a roll of contractors plastic that is sticky on one side to cover all my carpet parts in the back of my SUV. I put it in when I knew I was going to make a mess of the back and wanted to protect it as much as possible. I found it at Home Depot in the paint department.

Otto;

WeatherTech makes custom rear mats for SUVs also. Bought one for back of my wife's SUV. Perfect fit and comes out easily if she needs to use third row seats.

Check out Husky Liners. Got em in my Surburban and Wrangler. Made in the USA. Been in every truck I've owned since 2002.

Here's another nod to the Husky Liners. I've been very pleased with how they have helped keep my Suburban cleaner when I'm up at the farm or our hunting when you really can't take your shoes off between fields.

But I'd bet you've already got some floor pans!

I know what you mean when thinking about wear and tear on your favorite vehicle. I was all set to get a new Suburban awhile back, and came to the realization that it would really hurt to take a new one out to the fields. And when you've got a dog or dogs that are more than a little spoiled and like to ride with you, I just decided to keep my current truck, at least until my dog is gone. Maybe then it'll be time for the new one.

Hope your truck comes back in good shape!

You need your 01 for wok tomorrow tells me all I need to know.

Who cares about a little dirt on the new truck, unless you're worried that the newer ones won't even stand up to a little poop. Just tell them if they mess it up, be sure to total it out so you can start over.

But seriously, 64,000 or 6,400, why have a truck that you're scared to let go on horse duty, or any other duty for that matter? If it's just because it's new, go outside and put a scratch on it now and get it over with. Then enjoy the new truck when you're not driving the 01. Or enjoy the 01 and let the wife drive the new one.

I'm with you Bird.......It's not a lot if you don't have it.

If the wife and kid borrow the truck, it should return in the same condition.

All in fun, but, if I told my wife she was "borrowing" my truck, I'd be sleeping in the barn. She would look at me with those eyes that say "what part of being married don't you understand"!

Thanks Rick, I have the custom fit mat for the rear. I put the plastic on the sides of the back, and on the backs of the second row seat, all made of carpet that is especially magnetic to dog hair.

Bag the floors and seat! Good commercial/contractor bags. Line the floors and duck tape all the seams :thumbsup:

$64K to me is about 5 trucks. I think anyone spending $64K for a truck is nuts...especially knowing that it dropped 20% of it's value as soon as you drove off the dealer's lot.
Now, I don't buy any vehicles new...just not interested in the initial cost and depreciation.
I'm fine with the horsey crap through...part of rural life, especially if you own horses.
