The service animal gig is greatly over used. Now there is the "emotional support" animal as well. Service animal may indeed have legal limitations but you can have an emotional support snake, chicken, or whatever else you wish. I believe airlines are obligated to allow them to fly with you. I'm not sure a service beehive or emotional support beehive would be permitted. Is there an end to the insanity?

I am just glad I don't have to fly any more.

My wife goes to the Y for gym work. One morning last week, someone brought a puppy into the gym. It wasn't even near her. She could only hear it. However, she came down with a severe allergic reaction to its dander released into the AC system. She could hardly talk when she got home later. It was a "service" dog in training. Hasn't been there since. She took a mask in the next couple days.

I'm sure my cats think of me as their service human. Saturday morning, Butter fried Cheese Omlette. Night time, Cheese Fondue with Ham. Now impatiently waiting for BBQ sausage. I got to go . . .

We found the remains of one of "our" turkeys last weekend and wondered, what happened? More disturbing than coming across a 787 plane crash!

Not only is it too easy to get an animal registered there is nothing in place requiring a person to prove they NEED a service animal.

I know someone that owns a coffee shop. They were continually worried about the health inspector showing up and finding their pet dog inside. With no training or proof of need they registered the dog as a service animal. Problem solved.

So the mice and whatever else have free range because your kitties have the gourmet menu?

For many handicapped people service dogs etc. can be a godsend...but for the majority of physically able people that claim a service animal the animals are nothing but a crutch for at the least is a lack of fortitude and at worst a mental weakness...the latter being no different than other individuals who are substance addicts etc...

Therefore making it more difficult for people who genuinely need a service animal.

OTOH it's been a year and I still miss my service turkey... she would have gotten along well with my new service plant, cranberry.
