As a landlord, I can’t get insurance on a property if a pit bull is on the property!

Denial isn’t the issue. Pit bulls aren’t the dogs that bite the most, but when they do they typically do the most damage. Just because ins won’t insure a property because the tenants have a pit bull doesn’t mean anything to me. Some ins companies won’t insure a truck because it has a flatbed on it. Pit bulls have gotten a bad wrap. I’ll be honest, I used to hate them after seeing first hand a rescue go crazy and nearly tear a women’s arm off. I was done after that. I had a friend reintroduce me to them and I opened my eyes. That dog that was at the rescue was there for a reason. I can’t vouch for that dogs upbringing or what happened to it before it ended up there. However, I can 100% vouch for my dog. I have tested him in every senerio I can think of ranging from pain to being scared. He’s bomb proof. My grandpa little rat terriers bite several people a year. Nothing gets reported so those stats don’t exist

Same issue w/ guns, it's people that pull the trigger, but everyone is focused on the hardware (gun) not the software(brain)

If you don't have gun you can't pull the trigger. So the access to the harware is the problem.
Another example is cars: It is true that it is people crashing cars. But cars are being made safer as time goes by. In example they brake or drive automatically. So if you can't change people you change the hardware.

I'll bet if strict liability adhered to the owner regardless of its use after it was stolen, then some better kind of security measures would be invented and used. Possibly even mandatory insurance, like some states have for automobiles to assure that there is someone to pay for damage to others. NRA should sell such insurance, it would be a good and legitimate service to the members. Aren't many gun deaths traceable to stolen weapons?

This American hero has several hundred dollars of hospital bills now and faces likely lifelong expensive limitations.
