The loose end bundled with duct tape doesn't bother me much, but I would like to see some abrasion guards where the straps go over the concrete corners.

Agreed but I can't tell from the picture if it has any or not, i use to have some straps that had abrasion sleeves that were the same color so it might have them.

Straps don't last long on concrete corners!

Much to my horror, my BIL moved a large over width shed on skids a mile to his house by just pulling it down a populated road. He's that kind of a guy and RIP. Nobody bothered him and everybody waved.

That's funny.

Thanks. I was driving, didn't think about taping the loose ends which it probably was. I didn't see anything on the concrete edges which would wear the straps out quickly especially with vibration.

And the problem was.... you were embarrassed? I do not see a problem with this at all - totally safe and legal - assuming he had an SMV emblem on the back.

Perhaps because it was on skids being drug on the highway?
Kind of like that old comedy routine:
"No Mr. Foxworthy, it's not illegal to tow a boat behind your pickup in Georgia, but we do require that you have it on a trailer. And no, I don't need a beer, and neither do your friends in the boat."

A dually at that but hey, he has a spare wheel on top of the pile. Do the lugnuts still look attached to it? :D

That is what I was thinking, i.e. the hub was still attached to the wheel. But since the right side is tandem - what happened to the other wheel?

The problem was that it was the size of a small garage, we were in a somewhat residential rural area and he was leaving marks in the center of the road at a very slow speed. I mean, I would do it too but you're supposed to have some degree of remorse so people don't blame you for the damage. :D

A neighbor farmer accidental dropped--lowered-- his very heavy chisel plows on the blacktop road a few years ago. It patched up OK and the damaged part seemed to melt back together. Didn't seem to bother anyone.

You don’t see a problem with dragging a shed down the road?

Yeah I do: read my first post on this.

Despite that, it is something I could see myself doing. So could most of us. I'd think about it, and might not do it, but it is the kind of thing I have done over the years.

No problem with the dolly, it looks to be heavy duty.

But using his daughter's lunchbox to span the gap in the dolly???? Looks like he's crushed it!
I think that is the blurred license plate, not a lunchbox...

Is the inside front tire on the dolly a little bit low? :D:laughing::D

You are correct. You can see it's a white license plate in the video version of the story. Someone colored and blurred it for the picture for some reason, maybe to protect the innocent trailer hauler?

Well I did not get a picture of what was being towed. Just got to see the results. Apparently a tire went bad and the the driver kept on. Soon it was down to the rim. The rim sent of sparks setting numerous fires for a mile and a half in the ditch and adjacent properties. Took several fire trucks to get such a long area under control. The sparks and fires quit only when they left the asphalt road onto a gravel road.
A black strip showed the tire going bad, you can see in a picture the whitish mark left near the center strip as the rim started running on the pavement. Fortunately it was not the passenger side or more sparks would have hit the ditch.. A recent rain helped with keeping this from being worse.

Seems the forum is not letting more than a picture.

Yikes. Where's the common sense?

Recently I saw a small sedan with a john boat sitting on the roof on a blanket and strapped down with two cheesy straps going through the car. Nothing front to back. One quick stop and it would have slid into whatever was in front of it. I guess you can launch it quickly that way. :D
