I have been to several on the east coast, and at low tide, there was a significant odor.

Or maybe I have hyper sensitivity to it.

On the subject of phototaking... my cousin got a call from his buddy this week asking for a ride home. Apparently he had been travelling in the latest snowstorm when some whiz-bang driver blew by him at faster miles an hour... at least by buddy's standards. When later he passed whiz-bang kid in the ditch he pulled out his phone and started videoing; ignoring someone's shout to put the phone down. The investigating officer left the scene to chase him and pulled Buddy's drivers license on the spot. He had to call his girlfriend and Keith to get himself and his truck home.
Sometimes it doesn't pay to be ignorant.

Your strap job sucks. I can’t believe you still have them after 3 hours over the bucket edge.

Hate to say it. But I am also surprised the straps lasted very long. At least for me those would have worn through.

I cut 15k straps half way through in 15 minutes over the 1/2" bar stock "bumper" with ever so slightly rounded corners on my L3200. I switched to chain after that. Really surprised a sharpish cutting edge didnt cut more.

Yes, you have every right to photo/video Police. I smell bullcrap big time. And while all of this is supposedly going on... 60 tractor trailers went past videoing all of it, 30 passenger cars with dash cams went past... But this cop stopped working at the scene of an accident and chased your buddy with his one camera.

I'm not saying your lying.... No... I take that back. Your full of it.

Not necessarily. I've read a number of similar stories from different venues. The only thing I can figure is use of a phone while driving. Remember, Piloon is in New France where things are done different, even from the rest of Canada.

But even at that, I'd be raisin' a hubbub at the local Constabulary. Leaving a duty station (working an accident) to chase down a citizen isn't sensible.


I saw something similar back in the 80's though. On scene at a minor accident on the (WB) shoulder of a major interstate. Michigan State Trooper working the report with one of the drivers in the back seat. Motorcycle passes in the other direction (EB) on the shoulder, passing slowed traffic (rubbeneckers). Trooper Goober Pyle drops the cruiser in reverse and takes off backwards (citizen still in the back seat) along the shoulder (EB on the WB shoulder) to chase the biker down. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I never would believe it.

I'm not sure if it will stand up in court. However a common cause of death with LEOs is getting struck while working accident scenes; and they just had a funeral this week for a state trooper who died while attending another crash. How "Buddy" could be watching the road and filming an accident at the same time is beyond me.

The only law I can see that was broken was the use of a handheld device will driving. Because the videoing of police or videoing in public are both protected by SCOTUS rulings. So if the story is true then sounds like the buddy needs to send some 18USC242 and 41USC1983 toward the cop.

I don't think SCOTUS or US Codes apply in Canuckistan.

There also are laws regarding driving around accident scenes, to protect the LEOs as mentioned previously. No matter how you feel about the laws and those enforcing them, nobody deserves to die because of a driver's inattention.

If a passenger had been the one doing the filming there likely would have been no law broken. According to my cousin, Buddy will probably post the video on his Youtube page.
