Sorry if I'm derailing the thread.
Not derailing! Imagining alternate scenarios is how progress, progresses.

Anybody else here read Azimov as a kid? Musk said this is what triggered his imagination about what the future could evolve into.

So he set out to make it happen.

I didn’t think they charged in a half hour. I’ve read on cars an hour might get you to 80%.

I am surprised Frito Lay's didn't learn from the electric straight trucks. At less than a year old they sent them to Ritchey Brothers. I saw them sit there for over 2 years. Then I saw them taking the boxes and lift gates off. I asked one of the guys what was going on. He said they couldn't sell them so they were going to sell the boxes and lift gates separately and scrap the trucks. And it was costing Frito Lay a fortune to scrap the trucks because of the battery. I guess they didn't learn anything.

What was the deal about the battery?

I believe the EPA lists them as Toxic Waste, so can't be dumped in landfill.

This happened in my area about a year ago. The bridge was posted at 6 tons. Its a very rural bridge and I had crossed it a few days before this happened to it, and it almost seemed like the half ton pick up I was in was too heavy for it. And yeah, the concrete truck was loaded with something like 7 yards of concrete.
Maybe they should have upped the posting to 36 tons and the bridge may have held the 28 ton loaded redimix truck.

This dummy screwed up traffic all over town for a couple days now. Gonna be at least a few more, sounds like. My elderly parents live right down this road and accessed most of their shopping by crossing this bridge. The detour isn't awful, but with the extra traffic its inconvenient.

I don't think there's a whole lot of story to it. Just accidentally left the PTO/switch on to raise the dump.

But from 60 mph to zero in ten feet! Ouch, man.

252k dollars to repair latest estimate according to local news sounds like it's going take quite a while to repair hope he had good insurance.

Ouch. He should have that much at least.

He's getting off cheap!

Another raised dump bed.

And $2.1m for this. Similar damage from a too-tall excavator.

A Tesla Model 3 LR will take 250 miles of charge in 35 minutes, or from 30 to 130 miles in about 10 minutes. The fastest way to go a long distance is to start with a relatively high charge on an overnight L2 connection then run it down to 30-50 miles remaining and only add about 150 miles (what is needed to reach the next Supercharger) for a total range of 200 before heading to the next Supercharger 150 miles away.

An EV is rarely charged above 90%. The "Gas Station Model" fails for EVs on so many fronts. EVs are not driven until empty then filled to full. The best thing to do for routine driving is to start every morning from home with about 80% in the battery.

In 2007 rampart blvd I75 overpass in Florida was hit by a high excavator on semi trailer. The driver was fine $71. Rampart blvd was closed for 1 month while they replaced a section of the bridge. (main escape route for a large community). Cost was estimated at $500,000.

I don't know he just said they are expensive to dispose of. But the trucks didn't work and were in service less than a year.

His insurance paid a lot more than $71, and his premiums went up accordingly.

On the first of the two incidents I linked above, the raised dump was owned by a firm that does a lot of state highway work. He pulled out of a jobsite and got stuck under the freeway fast lane. So I assume he had just dumped in the center median on a freeway-widening project.

From improving the freeway to degrading it all in 30 seconds!
