What are you hardfacing? Plow shares?

Hardfacing a chisel plow point that is shaped like cultivator points. Very similar to this but even thicker:

I'll post a photo when it is done. It's use will be to eliminate the center area missed by a tandem disc.

Here is a photo of the original fabrication but the point broke off at the bolt. The one being being hardfaced is MUCH heavier duty and will be welded on. If something is hit with it the disc will likely be broken in half. Oh, well. A cutting torch, plasma cutter, and the new welder will just put it back together.

Got mine today also, didn't have time to fiddle with it yet!! Mine was inspected 6/8/2013 & tested 6/10/2013. These are brand new units aren't they? The only reason I ask is I am a little suspicious. The unit appears brand new and never used but it was shipped from...

Guys you got me on that. We don't have any control on what Amazon ships out when and where, or really what. As you see, someone got a newer style stinger, and some others got the stub type we left about that time. I'd be interested to see the different inspection dates. I know we sent a lot to them over the last few months. It may represent multiple shipments we made, and they stockpiled them. I don't know. I am not an Amazon guru. I'd assume these are new, at least they were from us. If it came from an Amazon return center, did the box have factory white banding around it, and was it sealed only once with tape? Did it come wrapped in a clear type plastic bag? I would not worry too much though if they work...warranty is still the same as always since what we shipped them was new when we shipped it. If it is a return, it's possible a customer saw that fourth wire, and thought it was supposed to be hooked up like a dryer, didn't work and he sent it back and they received it and tested it and it checked out fine...just throwing out wild educated guesses here though...because I have seen that happen on our end. OR they tried to use both negatives with the torch and work leads and got no "spark".

When we tell people that if you buy from Amazon, you are buying older stock, or possibly a different package than what we sell direct, some people think we are trying to con them or trying to hard sell them, but I think this is a good experiment. Older stock? Confirmed. Different accessories, not able to guarantee what it comes with? Confirmed. Possible new, but returned unit from Amazon itself? Maybe. We still honor the warranty though just as new unless the unit is marked as used or by another party than us or Amazon. Sometimes you'll see from: $XXX.XX (2 used 10 new). Watch out on the cheapest as those are used. Not in this case though. lol.

IIRC, the return address is always "Amazon Returns" with Amazon shipments.

I have been spending the last month cleaning and organizing my barn.
It looks a whole lot better, still has a long way to go
I am in process of building a steel stairway to the loft, I got a deal from a scrapyard 22 steel grating steps and channel runners, so me and a friend are going to build a 14 foot tall stairway so my loft is accessible.

Maybe the returns center is also a distribution center??

Yeah, it is pretty bad, too much stuff, too little of a shop!!!!

It probably is a dist. Center also, just worrying about nothing. :duh::duh::duh:

a) Mine also came from the Amazon Return Center in Hebron, KY.
b) White "Inspection" sticker is by "LXQ" and dated 6/8/2013.
c) Yellow inspection sticker says "Everlast Tested" by "WGM" and dated 6/10/2013.
d) Mine was in a clear plastic bag that was sealed pretty tight. I had to tear it to remove it.

All in all my unit appears new best I can tell

OK, but this is probably more info than you wanted. :laughing:

Mine has the newer style stinger included, and was tested on 10-16-2013.
The packing slip shows mine to be package number 28 of 36 sent from Everlast to Amazon.com.LLC at Ft. Worth, TX.
Not all of those were PA300's. Four of those were PowerPlasma 60's, Seven were PowerTig 200DX's, and the other 25 were PA300's.
The order was placed on Sept. 30 under PO# Z9048454.

Not that the PA200 didn't do a good job but it was maxed out and without hot start and arc force. The extra features on the PA300 helped (as in WOW) the starting and eliminated the sticking/arc loss that are common issue with Stoody 31.

Just for the record, I'm pretty sure the PA200 does have arc force and hot start, just that they are fixed, not adjustable, like on the PA300.

Mine is scheduled to be delivered today and the departure scan originated in Dallas, TX. I want to learn how to weld as you always need to fix "stuff" around the farm so this was an impulse buy. When everyone said this was a good welder and I saw the price, I figured I couldn't go wrong. I figured Amazon would cancel the order but am excited that I'm getting a good welder to learn with. I work with a bunch of good welders that said they would work with me and teach me what I need to know to get started.

I'll post specifics on what I get but I suspect I'll get what Eastexan received since it mot likely came from the same shipment.
