I purchased a Consumer Z 18hp mower this spring and figured I would just give some feedback on the mower as there is not much info out here on them.
Pros - Gives you a very nice cut. Easy to drive once you become familiar with the joysticks. No problems cutting the grass at full speed. Easy access to the engine and simple to change the oil. Built fairly solid.
Cons - Mower deck is very difficult to work on. Front shocks do not give you a better ride.
Issues.
- Hydraulic cap breather hole leaks fluid when mowing in rough areas.
- Pivot bolt for front suspension sheared off.
- One of the mower support pins fell off.
- One of the roller bolts keeps loosening up.
- Belt tensioner pulley bolt loosened up and belt kept falling off. It also caused the Styrofoam on the belt tensioner handle to rub and fall off some where.
- Belt rubs on belt tensioner handle.
