OK, Farmwithjunk, I agree.

Go back through ALL of MY post's. Note the fact that I said from the very beginning that I'm nuetral on the issue for the most part. I DON'T smoke, but I'm married to a smoker. I see both sides. Also look at the post where I said I'll attempt to explain why non smokers have the upper hand in this debate.

Smoking ISN'T percieved with the favor it once was. All the non smokers have to do is get the arguement started, then stand back and let smokers shoot themselves in their feet. A jab here, an offhanded comment there, and smokers get defensive and territorial. Maybe they feel like they SHOULD, but that doesn't do their cause one earthly bit of good. And it DOES do a lot of harm.

This is a discussion forum. Granted, this topic is WAY OFF TOPIC, but this would be the time and place for debating and any confrontations that will arise. A social setting such as a restaraunt with friends, guests, family, and restaraunt employees ISN'T the place to wage war. All a person would need to do is provoke a smoker in a restaraunt, play the "good guy" and let the smoker do irreparable harm to the image of smoking. "Good guy" rides off into the sunset as the winner, right or wrong. Bad guy (smoker) loses again.

I REALLY, REALLY am nuetral on the issue. I couldn't care any less who smokes where. Believe it or not. I simply see one side as the easy winner and the other side helping the winner's cause.

Of course with someone with the superior personality of RayH all you have to do is ignore him and continue smoking. As he becomes more irate and irrational in his behavior it would prove who is superior.

By the way, it is neutral...I spent too many years in our Programming Division, where we would proof and edit all of the directives of the Department not to catch that, so yes, I can honestly say I was a grammar cop:D

Of course, I didn't know you did that job. I was Commander of the Planning & Research Division when I retired, so we did that same job, but a month or so before I retired, they renamed it to the Research & Budget Division, so I kept all my previous responsibilities, plus they gave me the Quartermaster Unit, the Fiscal Affairs Division, and the Fleet Management Unit to go along with it.

Taking it up with the management was mentioned way back on post #104.

Oh well, I've already said more than I should have in this thread, so I think I'll stay out of it now. Besides, I'll be busy smoking tomorrow. In fact, I'm gonna smoke a bunch of spare ribs with a little mequite and a little hickory.:D

You should see how they seperate the smoking from non smoking in most of the food joints around here. Lets see, the left side of the room is for non smokers, the right side of the room is for smokers, with NOTHING sperating both areas.

Makes no sense to me, might as well just make it a smoking only restaurant.

Several years ago the city I work in went smoke-free in all restaurants. There was lots of complaints from the restaurant owners about how much business they would lose. They actually found out that business increased because they could move more people through the restaurant because they did not sit at their table and smoke for 30 minutes after they finished eating. Non-smokers generally leave when they finish. Must work out well because all restaurants stay full. Makes for a much more enjoyable experience when eating out.

Now can we do something about those heavy cologne and perfume wearers?:) Some of this stuff people wear makes me gag worse than anything.

I know a guy who used to carry cigars with him when traveling to Vegas. If one of those strong perfume wearers sat next to him, he would light up. He made sure and blow lots of smoke toward the perfume person. It wasn't long till person moved.

Cheers

I try to catch my spelling mistakes. I USED to be better at it. Spellcheck has made most of us WORSE at spelling, knowing it doesn't matter if we get it right or not. The computer will catch the mistake.....IF we use the spellcheck.

I'm not going to point fingers at ANYONE in particular, but you got the point I was trying to make. Sometimes (most of the time?) it's the "bigger man" who can just let it go when a confrontation is about to occur. There's a time and a place for debating/argueing/fighting over any issue. On the flip side, there's times and places that are NOT the right time to confront someone.

A crowded restaraunt ISN'T the time nor the place.
