Oh Roy?!?! About that NEW 1950 Deere. Here's what they looked like back in the day. 1950 "B". Tryin' hard to make it mine.

That's a pretty cool piece of old iron! I was born in 1950, BTW, so there's sentimental value.

The 1950 Deere comment was in response to a Gear/Hydro discussion (as usual, way off topic in that thread).

But, in response to another post in another thread...I'm considering another sig line:

"Hydro: The Transmission of choice for uncoordinated people"

or, I could combine threads:

"Hydro: The transmission of choice for folks who can't light a smoke while shiftin' gears"

That picture makes that 1950 B look good, but I wouldn't really want the tricycle gear. I guess I just have different preferences than you kids; I'd like to have the 1940 John Deere L since that tractor and I were born the same year and that was the first tractor I ever used.

Not a lot of wide front B's built. I've only seen one or two ever. The one pictured has a few engine "updates" from the 520/530's, plus a little "barnyard technology". It's a stout little tractor. It'll hang right with a model A Deere of same vintage.
