Snow moving. Not as easy as I thought

What works for me when the gravel drive isn't frozen over is a tall rubber edge on my front plow. The rubber edge bends backwards when moving forward and just sweeps over the gravel.

My new front blade floats independently from the SSQA plate and it also has lateral oscillation. I just set the loader height so the blade can float on its own so only the blade weight and not the loader arm weight rests on the gravel.

I purchased the snow edge two winters ago and I've been very happy with it. It changes me from a novice operator to an "operator". the angle of the FEL can be anywhere from level to 15 degrees off and it doesn't matter. I originally got it to save the blacktop coating but it just improves the chore totally...

Hi Stomper. You'll get the hang of it. I hate getting gravel all over the lawn so I work hard to get a frozen layer of snow and ice on the lane, although it needs to be sanded sometimes as we're on a fairly steep hill. I'd rather sand and salt than clean gravel in the spring though. Re the rear 3ph blower, I actually use mine as a drag to pack the snow down a lot of the time when it's early in the season. Like you, for small snows less than 6 inches or light fluffy stuff the ATV works fastest. We got a 5 foot plow for the Honda and it's awesome. Fast, smooth and easy.

For big snows, what I do is use either the FEL or ATV to plow the snow off to the left and right side of the lane and then I make one pass down each side with the blower to throw the snow up and away.

I've got to agree with Stomper (the OP) on this.
For the nuisance snows (6" or less), my Gator with an Eagle plow did better than the tractor and snow blower...took less time too.
I've had tractors long enough to know a bucket isn't the best method...but if it's the only thing you've got...that's what you use.

Wet snow...heavy enough to stop an ATV or UTV...or accumulations >6" or so...that's when a snow blower shines.

Unfortunately, I sold that Eagle plow a couple years ago and, if I go for another plow, it'll be loader mounted to replace the QA bucket. I keep an eye on CL for one...

This. Early and late in the season I like using our Gator, for light snow it is fast and doesn't tear things up. Once things are frozen I chain up the Kubota and switch to an FEL plow. The only negative to the Gator is the manual angling.

A SSQA blade that floats independently! Oh boy, might need to sell my HLA blade now....

This looks really interesting and would solve the issue that I think is the problem..... too much weight. I agree that there is too much weight pushing down that adds to the digging in. Would it be possible to get a few more shots of how exactly that is made. Someone mentioned earlier in this post about hanging the blade by chains and I couldn't quite picture it, but now I have a general idea and I think this would solve alot of my issues. This would be the reason why the quad blade works so well, because it's just the weight of the blade pressing down.
