Re: Snow would be real nice \'bout now

SHF, I've experience a little bit of all kinds of weather; spent one winter in the Chicago area, and been to Alaska 4 times, once all the way to Prudhoe Bay, although the coldest I've seen was about -16F. I like cold weather as long as it isn't wet at the same time or too windy, if I don't have to worry about water pipes freezing./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Maybe that's being too particular./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif What I'd really like is to find a place that it never varies more than from 50F to 75F.

Bird-
Me, too- but those places always seem to be filled up with people. And it would severely limit my growing of citrus. It's supposed to drop down to 100 today, and even cooler the next few days. This summer has alternated between downright pleasant and el blasto hot - with nothing in between. Remember in the 1950's the strange weather being attributed to the "bomb"? -Stan

Re: Snow would be real nice \'bout now

The Heat index has been above 100 for about the last 10-15 days.Have been losing 5-7 pounds a day at work, regaining in the evening when I get home. Been on vacation this week and have enjoyed the break.Had to drain about 1000 gallon of water out of the pool today and refill, water temp. was at 97,has dropped to 90,a little better...

Re: Snow would be real nice \'bout now

Yeah, our "heat index" has been over 100 for so long I've lost count, with actual temperature in the high 90s, but this afternoon my thermometer on the patio was reading 102.

And then my wife asked me if I didn't think it was hot in the house and I agreed. Indoor thermometer was on 80. We thought maybe the air-conditioner had cratered; almost as terrifying as getting a tractor up on two wheels./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif And then I was greatly relieved to find that she had inadvertently pushed the thermostat to 90 while she was washing walls and pictures frames./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

That's a BLESSING.We had our Heat/Cool Service Man come by this Spring and do his routine maintenance.I happened to be home that day and told him to make sure that everything was "up to snuff".I knew that after the Winter we had that Summer was going to be a Bit!!.At this moment it is thundering outside and a cool front is on its way, predict temps in the 80's tomorrow, that would be a nice relief!!!

Did you get the cool front? It came in here Thursday evening about 6:00. Hit like gang busters. Dropped the temperature 30 degrees in an hour. Rained like crazy, lightening and high wind too. Only minor damage. Now they're warning us to expect temps in the 30's Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Re: Snow would be real nice \'bout now

Must be nice, SHF. We've still had nothing but heat, although about 75-100 miles north of us, they had some pretty severe thunderstorms the last couple of days. One teenager killed by lightning, standing in his front yard day before yesterday, and a 52 year old golfer in the hospital after being struck by lightning yesterday, and some pretty heavy wind damage. Hmm, at least our heat and drought is better than having that happen.

Wow. I checked about an hour ago and we were at 95, low tomorrow morning is expected to be about 77. The weatherman sez we have a chance for rain. I did see a dark cloud, but so far thats been it./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Anybody know a good rainmaker? How about the steps to a rain dance?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Next week we will go into second stage water restrictions.

Sounds like you are where we were last year. Usually, it gets dry in the spring and we wind up with burning bans. Last year it got so dry they not only banned burning, but smoking and anything else that had a spark or flame. This year, we had enough snow cover and rain early that they didn't even issue a burning ban. Now, we're paying for it. Sure is nice having this cooler weather though.
