But an HPX and XUV react differently to belt wear...

you will still go through a few belts in the life time of the xuv. i don't think the owners manual on the xuv says you never have to change a belt again because of the self adjusting clutch. when that belt starts to glaze up on the side from doing some heavy hauling or pulling that auto adjusting won't do you any good. the only thing tha auto adjustment is good for is normal wear meaning belt wideness shrinkage .

I understand how it works and why it works the way it does, most people that buy one aren't going to be working it as hard as what you are describing, thats just reality. So one or two belts over the life span of the vehicle is not that far fetched of an idea.

Getting back to my first point though the transmission being different still doesn't close the gap in the two machines in my opinion.

Utiltiy Vehicles are manufactured for a wide range of uses. Extreme Work, Rough All Terrain Driving, and Heavy Industrial Uses ***** With No Downtime****

Some companies claim what their vehicles will do, but only a few actually can do it.

We have our opinions on the makes, models, & styles .....

We all learn by our mistakes !!!!

~~~~~~~~~ Some just hate to admit it :rolleyes:
That's why I now own a KUBOTA RTV >>>> IT IS A PROVEN MACHINE !!!
I loved my HPX. I couldn't believe the difference when I drove the XUV.
Much much better vehicle. Ride driveability fuel consumption and all around performance is so much better.
JD addressed all the issues with the hpx and fixed most of them with the XUV.
My main complaint is the driver compartment and the wheel well protruding into your feet area~!
Thats why the US military chose the gator. it is tried and true.
Also look at most pro ball teams, they use the gators to transport those high priced ball players off the field when they are injured.
The kubota's are nice looking machines. I have yet to see one work.
The one I drove the hydrostatic trans felt to rough for me. The machine did appear to be well made.
Every video I have seen of an rtv is of it replacing a golfcart and being used for basic transportation.
If one can outwork an xuv, I will buy it.
I think I need a little better argument than that. I have seen some modifed golf carts used for that as well. Maybe I better get a golf cart for the farm.
I have also seen other units such as the polaris ranger used in the army.
Your kidding right? I think they are ugly as sin, but work-a-holics. And I have yet to have an experience where it cannot handle the load, job or conditions.
Golf carts stop and start smooth. The hydrostatic trans seems rough on the rtv. Maybe it is something that you have to get used to.
My tractor has hydro trans and it doesn't seem so jerky. Probably the weight and speed difference..
The Ranger is a fine vehicle imho~!
I'm serious. I like the rtv looks and I think they have the best looking cab of any utv. I have never seen one work. (post a video)
The three wheel drive is also a limiting factor for the rtv's that kubota needs to address~!
You guys really need to crawl under the RTV1100 and lift up the hood, seats and bed also. Kubota has learned alot from the 900 and it shows on the 1100.
After about 50 hours the RTV transmission on my first year model smoothed out comparable to my Tractor.
Sorry, but if you have never seen one work, then I cannot take you seriously.
Before our purchase, I extensively test drove the available UTV's on the market. At that time, the RTV was classed and sized for a particular property we had. Since that time, we have moved and up scaled our required work habits, the RTV has kept pace accordingly.
