Space heater

Oil filled works well. I have used a DeLonghi for about 20 years to add supplemental heat and it still works. If you get one make sure it really has a thermostat if you need it. Most just have adjustable power level.
Same here. I have two but rarely use them.

If I get up around 4 and put more wood in my stove will make enough heat except for the week or so of the coldest weather. Then the natural gas furnace has to help a little. I just leave the natural gas thermostat set at the bottom end of our comfort level. It doesn't kick on very often.

Drink a couple of cups of tea just before bedding down. Then throw a couple of fresh logs in the fire when you get up to go to the can, three times.

LOL, when you get to a certain age your prostate will wake you on schedule about every 3-4 hours and that's not to remind you to feed the stove.

I don't have to drink a couple cups of tea. Up in the middle of the night - out on the porch, under the starry skies. OH - crap - the porch has frosted over - slick as snot on a doorknob. I dance around like a drunken sailor - finally stabilize the situation - get the job done. Just another night and I didn't fall on the porch.

Oh - and yeah - check the inside temps and adjust the space heater if needed.

Thanks for all of the replies. I just ordered this one. (DeLonghi TRD40615T) This heater will be used at our place in the mountains where we spend a lot of time. It will only be used at night to knock the chill off in case the wood stove burns down. Normally I sleep pretty much thru the night, prostate not on the 3 hour schedule yet thank goodness, so unless my wife awakes & feeds the stove, it does burn down. That makes for a chilly downstairs. Hope this works.

I have such a heater. Mine is called Aloha Breeze, is two temperature (1300 & 1500W) with a variable thermostat and built in fan. It runs on 110V. I recently had it plugged in for an entire month in my unheated basement to keep some pipes from freezing and saw my next electric bill go up by $100. As soon as I saw the bill I realized I had forgot the heater was on and went down to unplug it.

Generally my basement stays in the mid 40 deg. F but the PVC piping to the house runs along an outside wall in one area and has frozen during real cold spells.

The good thing for you is with a themostat controlled electric heater it won't come on until the wood stove goes out and the room temp drops to the point the heater kicks on. The bad part is I don't think a 1500W heater is going to do much in a large room you mention.

I actually have two electric heaters (the 1500 and an 1800W) and usually only use them to load test small generators.
. 1300W and 1500w is a measurement of power , not temperature .

we have one, and i think they are a good choice, with the thermostat it will start coming up in temp as the room cools down.
i believe it has a timer function also?

Just be thankful it wakes you up. :D

I know that. Mine has two knobs. Top knob has Off-fan-1300W-1500W positions. Lower knob is a thermostat which turns it on-off via temperature.
