spray Pam on your snowblower to prevent clogging

I've used silicon spray; made a difference with wet heavy snow. Also spray on my satillite dish; thats made a BIG difference.

That sounds like a good idea on the satillite dish. I'll have to try that.

Did we just step back into the '40's? Where in the heck do they have commercial coal trucks?

Most electric power in the U.S. is still produced using coal as fuel. And there are many factories that produce their own power using the same. Not everyplace has access to rail delivery either. So, yes coal is still delivered by truck, train, an pipe.

We still have a few home delivery coal companies around here. All of their trucks look like they're from the 40's, but they're still going down the road.

We have TONS of coal trucks. Not all the mines are served by rail lines. Mostly tandem dumps with 2 drop axles. Almost always WAY overweight, they rut the roads up.

Has anyone tried Fluid Film as a coating? It is lanolin based rather than solvent based so should act almost like a wax.

Just a thought. Here in the CA valleys there is not much snow - like never.

No, you all can move here after the terrible winter in the East. We have enough nuts already!

Has anyone tried this technique in the bottom of a wood chipper's discharge chute? I'm breaking my Wallenstein BX4 out next week and I'll give it a try when I chop up the twigs.

X2 FLUID FILM is the answer if you want to spray and have it last. It doesn't wash or wear off quickly.

1 can of Fluid Film = 25 cans of Pam or silicon, etc.

been using pam for 3 years and just switched to fluid film, hands down fluid film works way better and its stays on for a long time, it stays wet and doesn't dry.I used silicone before pam that seemed to wear off the fastest.

I have not owned a snow blower that long but I fail to see how snow being thrown through the chute has a chance to stick to anything. When the snow comes out of my blower wet or dry it is MOVING!

Use it in your loader when you have sticky clay you are moving around.

Wait, till you get just a little bit of rust or corrosion on your shiny new snow blower.

Another vote for Fluid Film. I paint it on from a gallon can, usually once per season.

Also use it under the mower deck.

Looks like I'll have to get some fluid film. However, Pam is on hand and I'll use that till the FF arrives. Hope it makes a difference--I spent the whole time last storm just unplugging the chute!

I use the used peanut oil after fish frys--it does work on mower decks and the tractor.

Another thing---Do not use grease on the working parts if you live in a sandy, dusty or work your tractor in the mud. The grease collects particles that causes wear. It is suggested you pressure wash the tractor and than use a spray oil on it after and prior to use.
Arkansas I can understand this--I stopped using grease except on my boat trailer bearings:)

I smear a stick of butter on the inside of my chute / impeller housing before each storm.

Another resurected thread, but I'll chime in. Just last season (Spring '10), I spray-painted the mower deck with Fluid Film. After pulling it off this fall, it wasn't perfect, but I think it did a pretty good job. The snow blower, I never got to painting, but with Garry's 'It', or recently, I have seen that 'Liquid Wrench', the old penetrate oil folk, have a Silicone product, that I bought and used with success. ~Scotty

DuctTape- Seriously!?????????? This gives me an excuse to buy more Lobster Tails. If I could tell the 'better half' that I only needed the left over butter, for the snow-blower? ~Scotty
