SSQA fork build

I knew that the welds were going to warp the side plates so up on the press they go and I got them back to decent flatness. Ready to start assembly.

I also weighed up all the parts and the total is 450 lbs. About the same as my grapple.

You just need to trade in for a bigger tractor that's more suited for the forks. :laughing:

If you decide they are to much for your tractor, I'll come take them off your hands. if they work half as good as they look you should really like them.

It would be really sweet to have hydraulic adjustable width, side shift, and side to side tilt.

V1 uses those cheap $60 ones rated to about 200lbs. V2 used a $150 one rated to 500lbs or so. If I ever do a V3 for another tractor I would use the cheap ones again.

I've also used those cheap ones for some chicken coop doors.

I wouldn't use the cheap ones for the forks. To slow & wimpy. The 500lbs ones might work though. You could even side shift as you ran the 2 switches in the right direction.

Assuming he already has third function hydraulics for a grapple wouldn't hydraulic cylinders be cheaper?

I remember seeing in a catalog somewhere a RH/LH acme rod that would be the perfect set up. Heck, now that I'm thinking about it, it would be pretty easy to make your own. A length of RH and a length of LH and couple the two together and the synchronizing issue is solved. Hook the motor to a 90 degree speed reducer and drive it from the center. Well, I now know what my fall back plan is!
