If you have a big enough tractor or a skytrack you could build an elevated blind that is mobile. Our neighbor built one and used his skytrack to move it around. Of course you are really limited to a ladder to get in, and if that doesn't work with your back then that could be a limiting factor. You also need to find a way to anchor it to the ground so that it doesn't blow over. Just a thought. By the way, your stand looks great.

its always an option but I prefer the solid feel of the towers and want this to be here permanent so the deer are use to it.

The trailer blinds work very good for me because both my farm and my father's are flat as a pancake, and the foot or two of elevation they provide is plenty. This year I set mine up on a 3 ft berm at the edge of a pond so I really have a nice view. My dad gave up hunting a few years ago, but after seeing those comfortable ground blinds he is thinking of takeing it up again. Another nice feature of the trailer blinds is, you can pull them back up to the shop as needed for easy maintenence. What amazes me the most about them however, is how the deer, even the wise old does that have had a knack for staying out of range of my permanent tree-stands, seem to just walk right up to them when I am inside. There is so much bowhunting around me before gun season that I think they have become accustomed to danger from above. My favorite moment in one last season occurred at high noon on a very bright, cloudless day when it was also very cold with about 4" of fresh snow. I watched a nice buck walk out of the bush at that time and begin feeding on clover/weeds about 100 yards away. On that cold, windy day, I never would have stuck it out that long without the nice windbreak. And the shot would have been much harder had my blind not provided the nice rest and eliminated the glare. It has been my experience that, even on the frozen tundra up on the Canadian border where I hunt, as long as you stay out of the wind and wear good long-underwear, headgear, boots, jacket, bibs, etc,.. that a heater is completely unnecessary. I do usually take a thermos of hot cider out there, and one of them chemical handwarmers and that helps on the days that are real cold.

So would that be the border of Yukon and Alaska? -- not much "frozen tundra" any where else on our border:confused:

Well I cleaned up around the tower today as its the first time I have been back in a while. I didn't do any work but took this pic that I forgot to take last time from the same area as I originally started taking them from.

Looking good Robert, although I think I see a fly speck on the left window pane :D:rolleyes: I am sure you will have many enjoyable hours there.
Dave.

Thanks Dave. There are a lot of flys and lady bugs in there still. They moved in and hid in the cracks while the windows and doors were out still. Then when it warmed up they were flying all over. A fly swatter is one of my new hunting tools for this year:rolleyes:

Funny, but very true. I'm having the same problems with lady bugs, but instead of flies, it's bee's and wasps. Once we have our first frost, that will change, but for now, it's what happens when the windows are open in the blind.

They are a PITA this year. We have had 10-15 nights with hard frost, then it gets up to around 60 with sunshine and out they come. They are real good at hiding from the cold in cracks like you say. Augment your swatter with some of those sticky fly strips hung in front of a window maybe.
Dave.

Shop Vac, that's the answer. Just make sure you empty it after you use it or they will crawl right back out.
