Ok thats what I have too. So I still haven't had any luck in starting this thing. I tried for about 2 hours today but still no luck. On the last set of attempts I guess I left my heat gun on to long because it fried on me.

I am out of ideas. Anyone got anything else? If not anyone know of a good place near Augusta that I can take it too?

I also attempted pull starting it but it wouldn't catch.

Thanks

Hmmmmmm... the plot thickens:

I dont seem to have any of these items under my injectors unless the are attached to the head in such a way that they dont come out.
Here is what you are looking for. I went out and dug through my misc parts box and took a picture for you. Yanmar calls the fiber washer 'Insulator'.

So has anyone order the item 34 ^^ and had an issue placing them? They almost seem to small so its hard to get them to line up over the hole.

Are you saying you ordered the insulators, but not the gauge adaptor. With too low compression, you are fighting a lost cause without some engine work.

SO I got out there and did the compression test today. Apparently I don't know what a healthy tractor sounds like because my readings are 100psi at the front and 0 at the back.

Not meaning this to sound smarty but those readings don't sound realistic. Especially after scanning back over this whole thread. Can you go into any detail how you did your compression check? If it is real you have bad valves or valves not closing all the way.

Please feel free to be a smarty :). It would be awesome if the readings were wrong. I bought the adapter from hoyes tractor And I pulled one injector I placed the adapter in the hole where the injector was previously (I tried it both with and without the insulator) and then tightened back down the bracket that is used to hold the injector in place. I then connected my Harbor Freight diesel compression tester to the adapter and spun the engine over about 8-10 times. Then after a rest period for the starter I tried it again to see if I would get the same thing. Rinse and repeat for the other injector.

Also when I was checking the valve clearances I was spinning the motor by hand and it seemed like all the valves where moving up and down. Don't know if that makes any difference.

OK, sounds like you are doing the compression check correctly. Just one dumb question, you don't have the compression release pulled do you? I would suggest pulling the valve cover and check your valve clearance. There is an attachment on post #43 showing how to do this. Looking for the .006" clearance Norm spoke of in post #31.

Yeah I did verify the valve clearance and they where off some but they are all set to .006 now.

I did this by rotating the engine by hand until the valve I was doing went all the way up and stopped moving. Then I adjusted the valve until there was a slight drag on the feeler gauge.

I repeated the same steps for all four valves.

Someone else may see something we are overlooking. At this point it would seem to me it is head pulling time. Give some of these other guys a chance to read our posts and see if they have better ideas.
