I am heating a 20'x20' area with a 12,000 btu unit. I got the unit at sears for 459 +tax. But I do know that you can get one of those units like they use in motels. They are pretty healthy units. I think the go for about 7-900 $$.

I finally got my account validated, so heres my first posting:

You wrote that you heat your home with wood.
If you have hydronic heating in your house, you could consider drawing well insulated pipes from your house to your garage and installing an air handling unit.

That way you could benefit from the cheap heat from wood.

You should make a small bypass in the garage keep some circulation in the pipes to avoid freezing when you are not heating the garage in the winter.

I have no idea what you have available in the US, but here in Denmark we can buy ready-made plastic pipes with two, three or four insulated pipes inside, designed for underground use.

It would be a real luxury to have hydronic heating + hot and cold water in the garage.

Here is the unit that I use. My garage is 32'x40' with a center ceiling of 16' It works great I put a timer on it and set it the night or day before I plan on working. 45min will raise the temp from 50 to 65 I aloso have a ceiling fan to keep the heat down. This unit is small and is ceiling mounted so its out of the way.

Tranberg: is hydronic a type of heat pump ground source. In town its hard to do a loop but I guess you could drill down, but I have a newer high eff natural gas f/a.

Philbuilt. Thanks for the link. That lookes like a good type of system.

Thanks all

Ok guys the work on the inside is done. Finished up today boxing in the chase for the electric. I have a new dilemma.

The drain tile runs in back of the garage then on the west side to the front that’s ok.
On the east side the bank drops to ground level.

Question:

What do I do with the drain tile on the east side.
The 1st pic shows the hill and the length of the drain running along the garage. I cannot burry it because of the footing. Plus in front of the door I have to poor a pad and if the tub goes under that I would only have 1 inch of concrete on top of the tub.

I could go solid pipe going from 4 to 2 inch.

Our I can turn the pipe out into the yard.

Pic two is where the tub would run and finally into a down spout and drain line.

Any ideas.

Roger

Hydronic heating means you have a boiler and a water distribution system in your house, either with radiators and/ or heated floor.
You can also have a heat pump that heats the water.

To date I have not had any issues I could not find answers to or help either here on this site or from friends. I have a new one pop up last week and I hoping for help here.

Picture one is a close up of a spot in my drive where a clear liquid is bubbling up and has been wet for 2 weeks, never gets wetter or dryer since it first showed up. I do not think it is a sewer or water line because it is slow, plus I had dig rite come up and the water line is on the other side of the property. Other water lines for other homes are hundreds of feet away.

I thought of springs but the yard was never soft before. I cut a lot of trees root could it be from that. Then if it does not dry up will it hurt to pour my drive on top of this. The rock on top is about 3 to 4 inches and I cut the yard down about 5 inches.

The 2nd photo shows the general area all up hill from the wet spot.

The last photo shows a small pad of 6x6 5 inch deep whole where my pad for the door will be. Would you mix by hand or wait until I pour the drive and pour with it. I do not want a mixer truck to bring just one yard. But I would like to have the mud whole gone. Not going to pour drive for a week or maybe 3.

Thanks for any help

Roger

Roger do you have a septic tank and could that be a leach line that is now too near to the surface or a line that was crushed by a heavy truck.
