Was set to buy a bx25, but after some research and walking the area i'd be working in (hill, soggy area, and rocky areas) I'm leaning toward the b2320/b2620. Added power and ground clearance are main reasons of concern. Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Drew NJ

Have a big Texas :welcome:

Ok, we have at least one hill, some soggy ground and some rocky ground. What do you plan to do, how much of each and how often do you plan to do it? Give us a picture of what you need to work on and how and we will try to help you get a picture of what you may need to do it, but we do need some details.

The area I'm looking to work in sits at the base of a field which seems to catch all the runoff. I'd like to get down in there and re-direct the water into a small stream that runs across the property. I'd like to make some new trails and improve the existing ones and clear brush. About 2 acres. Possibly dig a small pond which would be fed by the stream. I also do some landscaping and light construction ie. patios, walks, tired of renting and the shovel. Just on the fence about the bx possibly being to small and regretting not going bigger. Also the 3pt. max. almost doubles with the B's.

Thanks,

Hey knobie2005! Like johnrex62 said, pictures would help. When you say "rocky" or "hill"...different people have different ideas of what exactly "rocky" or "hill" mean.

When it comes to driving over rocks, more ground clearance may be a good thing. But when working on hills, a lower center of gravity may be better.

As for soggy areas, you might be able to reduce or eliminate them with your new equipment regardless of which you choose.

Both machines will be able to do the job, though I would be inclined for the larger because of lifting power and traction/pulling power.

If you have a friend with an excavator or dozer, you can make short work of those trails. A tractor can't match the other machines for working in rough ground.

Tracks generally provide more traction in muddy areas, but wheels don't make as much of a mess in other areas and are quicker in traveling. Be careful in those wet areas - a stuck machine can eat up lots of time and sanity.

Now if you aren't going to do more than that 2 acres, I might consider the smaller machine in favor due to the maneuverability and the fact that it is easier on your finished yard(s) and can therefore maintain the finished areas. Another benefit would be that you wouldn't have to make the trails as wide unless you plan on driving other vehicles on them.

Either way you go you'll get plenty of seat time and enjoyment as you work on your place. Have fun with it.
