Tractor
Deere 4044R cab, Kubota KX-121-3S
My apologies to my fellow Kubota owners for my recent flirtation with the Deere 4300. I very nearly bought one, but in the end the smoothness of the rock-solid L3010 won out over the incredible ground visibility of the 4300. That, and some very timely input from Steve Carver.

So I put a deposit on an L3010HST with all the bells and whistles (FEL, R4s loaded, rear chains, finish mower, rear blade with hydraulic angling, block heater, rear light) and will hopefully take delivery of the last tractor I'll ever own (as my wife points out every few minutes) in a couple of weeks.

Just in time! I have 42" of snow on the ground, and the blizzard rolling thru right now might add as much as 16" to the total.

Hey Pete,

If this is your last tractor....are you going to change your signature file....or are you still going to be "Yearning for a bigger tractor."

Just wondering.../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

What type of liquid ballast are you going with?

Pete, a bittersweet congratulations to you. I'm sure you'll love your new tractor but we'll miss your thought provoking questions and comments over on the green forum. Of course, some of us manage to visit all the forums regardless of color/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Post some snowey photos when it arrives!

Pete,
Congradulations on your new purchase. Don't feel alone about your wife's comments - I recently upgraded from a L2900 to a L4310 - got the same comment from my wife/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I see on your list of options you got your L3010 pretty well loaded, but I didn't see the heated leather seat option or 12 disc CD changer - what's the problem?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Pete,
Congratulations! I know that must have been a tough decision, after all BOTH are nice tractors /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. By the way, how much did the extra hydraulics cost? Also, which chains are you getting? Thanks!

Take care and have fun!

Well, I was going to get the duo-cross chains from tirechains.com, but they didn't come in that size. So it looks like I'll be getting the gnarly skidder-style chains locally, the kind with the big ice spikes in a diamond pattern.

Not sure of the price breakdown since it was a package deal, but with that rear outlet I'll be able to change the angle on my blade without leaving the seat! Since we have over four feet of snow on the ground you can imagine how handy that will be!

The dogs chew on the leather, so the seat was out. Besides, I'm an expert at the old New England trick of standing in front of the woodstove till my buns are smoking, then running outside and hurling myself onto the tractor to capture the heat before it gets away.

As for the CD changer, they don't like ice storms very well.

Congrats Pete!!!

I only hope you love yours as much as I love mine! (not exactly true...I have other hopes besides world peace...like getting 3pt hydraulics on MINE!) :)

How you doing, Steve? Your love affair with your tractor is one of the reasons I checked out the line in the first place. The only thing I don't like about all this is the weather isn't cooperating! If it comes this week, it'll arrive with no chains in the middle of either rain or wet, sloppy snow. But I'm already having trouble sleeping cuz I want it here NOW! If I have to wait another week I'll be a wreck!

Buying a tractor can be tough, I had it pretty easy as neither JD or NH makes a match to the BX2200 or the L35 (yet!). I found features in blue and green very inviting though, if I had been looking for a L3710 L4310 or a B2410, it would have been a tough call. I'm still happy to be orange, because my garden tractor is green and my other tractor (1710) is blue. Fortunately this forum has a nice bunch of "mixed" color folks. The recent long treat on TBN civility sums it all up. Some car club people spend more time arguing then enjoying their old cars. I always check ALL the forums, too many tips from those green and blue guys to let pass! I guess with all three in my shed I must be brown? or how about rainbow?

Dig on!

Bummer! I guess you'll just have to settle for Mark C.'s heated cub holder/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Pete -

I'm still catching up on messages (it almost doesn't pay to go away for the weekend), but I finally caught up to you.

Congratulations! Not only did you stay orange, but you're getting the tractor I wanted! Actually, our tractors are just about identical, except that yours will have HST, more horsepower, more weight, mid PTO, more room, more comfort, more lights and more hydraulics.

Kinda hard to tell them apart, really. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

You're in for some mighty pleasurable tractorin'. I hope we get to see some pictures.

Oh, yeah -- and your spelling and punctuation are perfect. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

HARV, the tractors are almost the same?

Reminds me of truck shopping for a shortbox reg cab 4WD pickup for my daughter.

Salesman:

"We've got just want you want!..."

Uh huh, except it's a 2WD, diesel, 4door, dual rear wheels!!!

Pete,

Congrats! The L3010 is a fine machine... how about some details on the rear blade setup? Costs with the added hydraulics?

Enjoy it!

Well, I haven't actually seen it yet, but the general idea is you install a cylinder on the heavy-duty LandPride 3572 blade (it angles and tilts) and control the side to side movement from the seat. When it arrives I'll post some pics.

As for the cost, you're asking the wrong person. Part of doing business with Mr Carver is not disclosing prices. Even if I felt that practice was 100% marketing hype, I gave my word...

So ask Steve, okay?

Is it a factory angle blade or customized, or do you know? Either way, that should be a nice attachment...
