Sort of....I've done payment processing....there are no 'skilled' workers.
Never worked within the industry but have to interact with it to process payments for my business so I would imagine there is a good deal of IT related jobs within it that require skill. Would I be wrong?

Just a heads-up... beware of trolls that incite "political speech" and then complain to moderators about any political speech that they disagree with. I got a two week time out because someone was triggered by an opinion that I stated that was in disagreement to their "core" beliefs. There are a couple folks that I follow that are likewise offline, private messaging disabled.
Thanks for the heads up.

Small companies like that just buy a packaged program and usually contract out maintenance. Original installation comes with the package. 90% of the staffing is straight up clerical work. Nothing wrong with that, but with 100 employees or so, he basically paid everyone else what a front line manager was making cut his 'salary' (he still owns 70%+, so those increased profits go to him but are not 'salary'). In theory, I like the idea. Always thought that NFL QBs should max out themselves at 1MM a year and push the rest toward better teammates.

This only works in a small business without skilled people. This guy is a huckster. He is making his money in other ways and the peons who work for him bought his shtick...and bought him a car. That being said, I am happy for those he paid. They will never leave because their skills do not match their pay. As long as it is not forced on anyone by government or coercion, it is his choice to make.

I always marvel at this type of logic. If you want to treat government employees like dubs... expect your hiring pool to be full of dubs.
The problem is not so much pay as it's protection. Anytime you protect bad apple employees it spoils the whole bunch.

Thanks. Sorry that happened to you. I have noticed some of that and have to just stop posting on those threads for awhile. I hope management looks at the baiting and suspends them, too. Unfortunately, I think some of that is coming from 'established' members. When did it get so bad that people cannot simply disagree?

I'm talking about Union paid strike benefits. I suspect the strikers aren't getting unemployment compensation.
Brain fart. Talking about those unwilling to find work.

Thanks for the clarification, my post was kind of murky

Deere seems to have come back with a pretty good offer from what I can gather and I wonder just how much more negotiating power the workers actually have and if they have pushed it too far by rejecting this. They certainly run the risk of Deere moving their facility elsewhere knowing they should be able to hire plenty of employees in the new location, and leaving all of the strikers with nothing in the end. Also, if the strikers come across as unreasonable this time, guess what will happen next renegotiation, particularly if the labor market isn't as tight as it is now.
But remember this, Deere is not going to lower their prices to the consumer, they will continue to increase the prices about 3% every year. So none of us are going to see any benefit from that, only Deere benefits from that.

Georgia, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Tennessee, Louisiana and Kansas are right to work states with Deere factories.
They can bring one here. I know my state would gladly take it.

You really want to fix healthcare? You only have two options: either everyone gets insurance or nobody gets insurance. That’s the only way it’ll ever work long term.
Insurance is the problem. Get rid of insurance and go to private pay or open up the system and let more insurance companies come in and compete. In my state we only have virtually one insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield.
