Hi Everyone. Well, IT'S HERE!!!!
I unpacked it and gave it a quick wash to get rid of the dust. It apears to have been in storage for a long time. The fuel looks fine, from what I can see through the fuel filter but it's red color. Kind of different than the yellowish color in my Deere.
My first impression is that it's noticeably larger and beefier than the Kohler engine. The Kohler is 624cc and the Diesel is .749 liters. Based upon the HP ratings, I figured that the diesel is same or smaller but forgot that the displacement is actually larger on the diesel. I get the feeling already that this is definitely a huge step up in engineering and reliability. Design is very clear and well thought out. The radiator on the top is a nice space saving feature. the 100% all Aluminum radiator reminds me of the BeCool radiator that I ordered for my Camaro. Reliability is almost certainly going to be better than I've had on the Kohler.
Motor is supposed to have less than 50 hours. How can I tell, it has no hour meter. However, based upon the condition of the hoses, radiator, coolant, fuel filter, labels on the hoses, etc, I think that is a fair assessment. There are some stains on the side of the radiator that is left over adhesive from tape or label that disappeared when washed. Apparently, this was a demo engine never installed but dolly mounted to demonstrate it.
There is an electrical box mounted next to it to allow it to start and run. The dealer kept the dolly, it would seem but I suppose that is fine as I won't need it anyhow. Connections seem rather straitforward. A hose that goes to fuel source, a fuel return line, which my application currently does not have so I'll have to figure out a way to add that to the current plastic fuel cell without leaking (any suggestions?). Also, there is an electrical connection for a transfer fuel pump, whatever that is but I'm guessing that this is an electrical fuel pump that will recirculate the fuel and eliminates the need to prime the fuel system. It also has a glow plug circuit and someone wrote on top of the elec box "glow for 10 seconds prior to start." 10 seconds seems like a long time to me so I'll probably experiment with that when I get it in there.
