some of you might have read in another thread that I bought a standing 32x40 pole barn.

This past weekend we got some family and friends together and had a good ol' barn demo weekend...:D
Just in case we ran into problems, we decided to start Friday morning.. just me and my GF. By lunch time, after pulling over 1000 nails, the siding was off and stacked and the barn looked much bigger without its skins:D
I tried a lot of diferent pullers, but the smallest and cheapest puller worked best..go figure:rolleyes:

not bad for a $3 puller

the last panel came off around 2pm

right after digging about 50ft of 2 walls out of 2ft of soil:mad: :( This I overlooked when I decided to purchase it...

all the skins off

then off to the roof we went and pulled that off as well before going home Friday.

Saturday, we removed the last of the siding off the two end trusses and got cracking on taking down the trusses.

now the fun part...get the machine off the trailer and do some real work:D
Had to remove the center post to get under the trusses..

post one...done. We were lucky, the posts were not cemented in, just backfilled with dirt.

GF working the tractor while I'm in the bucket trying to line up truss #1:D

all lined up

the rest was pretty easy.. we colleced 7 trusses in about 15min:D before the tractor became a little tippy, we decided to come back for the rest..

The rest went by so quickly none of us got any pics  :D by 7pm Saturday it was all done ready for transport...

Sunday, we moved it to its new home in Mulmur:D

Now we have to save up enough pennies for a 30'-40' addition (originally I wanted a 40'x60' barn, since this one is 32' wide, a 32'x70' or 80' will have to do:D )and hopefully get it up spring of '08...stay tuned:D

Interesting posting. Thanks.
Also, the most attractive demolition crew I've ever seen. At least, half of the crew is.
Keep us posted as the construction phase starts.

Very impressive!!!!!!!!

I've never tackled a job like that and wold have thought it wasn't worth the effort, but after seeing your pics, I'm impressed by how you tackeld it and got it done. It will take allot longer to put back together, but WOW, it sure came apart nicely.

I had to go back and check, but your GF sure looks like a keeper. Any girl willing to work that hard is one that need to become a WIFE. I know when I was dating Steph, she impressed me so much with her "can do" attitude and willingness to jump in and do whatever it takes to get it done, that I just had to marry her. hahaha

Keep us updated on the barn. I'd love to see how it comes together and if you run into any issues that you might have done differently.

Thanks
Eddie

What is that little tower for next to your house? TV, or - ham radio perhaps? Does the shield you have in place keep rodents from climbing or something?

hahaha... thanks guys... and yes, she's a keeper:D she works side by side with me on EVERY project we tackle.. until she breaks a nail... then I'm on my own and she's on camera duty...lmao:D

it was quite the project, but the $$ saved over buying new will pay for the concrete pad and part of the addition:cool:
and the guy threw in all the natural stone, rocks, and interlock you see in the first pic

n8wrl, that's a tv antenna, back up for then the sat. goes down:D
can't comment on the shield, time will tell if it keeps the rodents away.

I'm planning on building the barn above ground (no posts in the ground) on concrete piers. Something along the lines of this system:
http://www.concretepiersystems.com/site/1481479/page/45030
or using sonotubes with 6x6 steel brackets (pic attached)
I dunno, I have a few months to think about it before I need to apply for permits....
