Here are 4 pictures and let me warn you all, it is ugly.

George,

Why? I would think they would be glad to hear from corporate for some help, even if they were told they have not handled it exactly as NH might have liked. You've given them high marks for trying and now it sounds like NH and you're dealer should be working together to resolve this, and NH certainly must have the ability to make it right with no costs to your dealer. Something doesn't sound right /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Do they (NH) realize the power of the internet? You have no idea how close I came to cancelling my order on the TC24 based on your experiences, 3000 miles away! In retrospect I'm glad I didn't, so far.

You and your wife have a lot more patience than I do. I give you both a lot of credit for sticking with NH. I agree the TC 24 is a gutsy little package with better overall performance and features than I expected. I hope it works out for you.

Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more pictures

I write this with great sadness, how can a good piece of equipment have so many problems and turn out to be such junk. Looking at the pictures it really does look like a pile of junk. I guess the service manager was right about it taking lots of time to replace an oil pan. Salesperson was just blowing smoke up my butt. As you can see from the pictures they had to remove the loader and the loader brackets, take out the battery, radiator, drop the drive shaft expose the steering column and remove the front part of the frame, just to get the oil pan out. I really am in disbelief how difficult a task it is to replace the oil pan. What you can’t see in the pictures are all the parts and hardware scattered everywhere and the dusty environment it is being disassembled in. The strobe system is a mess and the additional electrical cables are a jumbled mess. They even had to remove the exhaust system to get to the oil pan.
The service guy just shook his head and said “it shouldn’t be that hard” Turns out it used to be a whole heck o lot easier to change that out years ago.

I told my dealer if you split it keep it. My salesperson says the New Holland Rep will be here in early December and that I can meet with him at that time. I asked for a loaner but they have none, I asked for a new tractor and they said that would be up to New Holland and it would cost me money (lose of sales tax and down payment ect.)
Service manger is competent and assures me it will be assembled correctly and to my satisfaction but he did admit they end up with spare hardware all the time but they try to put it together good as new.
I wish New Holland was a member of Tractorbynet so they could take up the torch and see it through but it looks like I am dealing with a big corporation that talks the talk but has no intention to walk the walk. All I want is a New working TC 24D nothing more, nothing less.

So for all who own a TC 24D please go out right now and check that sleeve and make sure it secure or you too will be posting photos of your tractor in intensive care.

Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more pictures

George,

Wow. That looks more like a scrap yard than a dealership repair shop. I, too, would be concerned with the care and cleanliness that it gets put back together. At this point, I would print out all the posts you have shared with us, all the receipts and correspondence from the dealer, the pictures showing the problems, and put a cover letter to the president of NH requesting corrective action, with a cc to your attorney general. I wouldn't even wait for the rep. As Robert in NY stated earlier, our AG's Better Business Bureau is constantly handling cases like this and gets results. If it were me, I would no longer be negotiating with the dealer regardless of all good intentions. If they are unable to make it right, it's time to go over their heads.

I had a similar situation with a new, high quality rifle a couple of years back. Took it back to the factory since it was nearby, they tried to make it shoot right, returned it and said if there were any more problems, it must be related to my scope. Still wasn't right, my scope was fine, so I sent the gun and a letter back to the factory with a copy to president of the parent company (no AG involved on this one). The president's office called a week later asking if the factory had made things right yet, I said no. They said they would handle it, two weeks later I had a new rifle in the highest grade they make, worth nearly twice my original purchase.

My point is go right to the top. You are not asking for anything more than a reliable unit. Considering the time, money, and aggravation you've been through, not to mention being without a tractor, that's not asking for much. Somebody should be able to make this right without you needing to hire a lawyer.

Just trying to help and offer my 2 cents worth.

Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more pictures

Not that this is any consolation for you.. but on the older fords.. ( way older ) 39-50's ).. You do have to remove the front axle, disconnect steering members like radious rods, tie rods, etc.. just to get the front pan bolts out.. etc..

Good luck.

I trust NH to put it back together... My 1920 had the engine rebuilt at the dealer when I got it.. it had 4 hours on the new engine.. now has almost 200 on it.. no problems. Sorry you had bad luck on that one.. perhaps corporate will make you happy.. I hope someone does.

Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more detail

I feel for you. My TN65 has been in the shop for over a month this time for a PTO shaft leak. They found the bent shaft on the fourth split. They still haven't got the shaft from NH. This is the tractor that leaked the day I got it and they told me to run it and see if it went away. I knew it wouldn't go away but figured they would be able to fix it. I've been patient but I'm going in to have a talk with the dealer tomorrow, maybe I can get it worked out.
