Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more pictures

I wish I would've signed on to TBN last night or this morning before I went outside to start working as I had the tractor out all day and I could have gotten a really good look. I should be home in time enough tomorrow night to check to see if I can see anything on mine. I was using mine as an extension cord hauler and portable light source for putting up the Christmas decorations tonight. It was too nice of day to do it during daylight ours when I have a garage that still needs sheeting.

George,

FYI, I just looked at my sleeve and oil pan and took a couple of pics for you to compare. My TC24 was purchased in September, not sure of the manufacture date, if that matters.

There is no flat spots on the sleeve and the oil pan has a definite indent to accomodate the shaft. Did your sleeve pull out of the boot or did the whole boot come off the axle? We all might want to give the clamp a little torque as the boot ages?

Hope things are coming together for you.

Brad

Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more pictures

SacandagaBrad, thank you and everyone who has gone out and checked their drive shafts at my request. It has really helped a lot and can see that the TC 24D has a bigger engine that puts it closer to the drive shaft. From you photos it looks awful close at well in matter of fact I noticed a hint of rust in the indentation is that normal? The sleeve that is held in place with that spring clamp on the boot is what came loose; it then spun around and around rubbing against the oil pan.
I did not mention to you guys that when I went to go see my tractor and take pictures I ran into my salesperson, the service manager and the dealership owner. I talked to all of them about replacing my tractor. No one would commit to the fact it is a defective tractor but all agreed they have never seen that many problems in one model before. I was very annoyed with my sales person since he did not want anything to do with it and tried to push it off on the service manager who is very competent and trying to get me back in business. In fact I caught my salesperson laughing at me behind my back to the office staff. Oh and I am more than a little tired of hearing that you are just a “home owner” line. Fact is we live on an orchard/grove and the tractor is used for farming purposes not cutting my lawn not that it would be bad. Since they specialize in construction equipment and they say people who make their living with tractors need them back quicker than a homeowner would, really is not what wants to hear and it does not help. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

So I am taking some advice and going to the top. I will keep you guys posted.

Sounds like your salesman would not be my first choice to do business with. He got his commision now he does not care. Good luck hope you get somewhere with New Holland.

No, that's just the lighting hitting some residual mud that didn't rinse off. You got me to double check those photos, though /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Too bad about your salesman. Stick with the guys that are sticking with you and stay positive.

Re: TC 24D with hole in the oil pan more pictures

Sorry it took so long. I took some Monday when I got home from work, but it was too dark and they turned out really bad. I was able to get some yesterday. I didn't see any flat spots on the sleeve. Here are a few pictures. Mine looks different than Brads.

Just went back and looked at Brad's again. Looks like they've redone the oil pan for the newer ones. I would see if they could put the new pan on your tractor.
