If you want to know how good your welds are? It is pretty easy to build a bender, to make sure your welds will hold.

But how do you know if your welds are sound enough that the jig will hold together?

I was kidding by the way

So, I know you’re kidding but the welds on the jig aren’t really stressed. I think you’d be hard pressed to do a bad enough job for it to fail.

Silly question. Are the pins in the bend box just cold rolled bar or hardened pins? I haven't given it a lot of thought but thought my JD2 tube bender might be able to do the same thing.

I used the rollers out of my compact bender. The only important thing, is make sure the ram that pushes on the coupons is 1 1/2-inch in diameter. Then I just used bolts to hold the rollers in place.

Looks like another future project to put on the list

I tried that on a couple of projects and it ruined them. Now I just loan it to my neighbor. If he can't break it,nothing can. :grumpy:
