Texas is notorious for that last frost around Easter.
Amen to that. Worst Panhandle blizzard Dad told me about happened in April, 1938.

Man it was windy today. We had my sons 7th birthday party today,I come up with a parent child team fishing tournament at the ranch. We fished for 1hr,heaviest stringer got $100,most fish caught was $50(heaviest stringer couldn't win both) and biggest fish was $50. We let all the kids put name in hat and we did drawings for new fishing poles, tackle boxes and lures. I cooked 100 hot dogs, lol. My son said it turned out better then he expected, sure did make his daddy happy to hear that. Much better than giving it to some party place in town, that cost $240 for an hour.

I told the wife the same thing how do outdo this party:confused3:. Was lots good pictures from the little nephews to the friends who kids been fishing for the first time and of course it was funny to see us dad's get so competitive:D. My wife and her sister stayed busy running around weighing fish, the wife rode my sons little dirt bike to keep up and niece done the paper work.
So why/how I come up with this, well we all been to little kids birthday parties and we parents usually set there not getting to jump in the bounce houses or play on the play ground, some just drop kids off and come back to pick up child and I thought what's is something that will allow parents to have fun at the same time or won't to stay. I thought what do some kids not get to do all the time, cause they don't have land live in town. I been to the kid party place over and over for other kids parties and then the light bulb went off:laughing:

Windy weekend! But afternoon temps nice. We had son's Boy Scout troop out for camp out. They arrived at ranch after dark Friday and set tents up in the wind. We had some cold kids and dads both morning - Sunday morning we had to leave tents out on drive to melt the ice and evaporate condensation.

Funny thing - the troop is suburban and the biggest hit of the weekend was for many of the kids climbing our big live oaks. They built a rope swing and were all over the trees. They also got to fish and several caught 3 or 4 fish each.

I pulled out the horse shoes for the dads, while the boys practiced throwing tomahawks. Fun times!
