I've been without internet for 3 days. We got 14 inches of rain in just about 36 hours. 4 foot of water at duck fence behind the dam. Water and debris broke latch on 14 foot gate. Almost pushed fence over, but I built it strong.............just water washed out around concreted posts. I had to wade out in waist deep water to put a log chain on the gate and post. Ducks are going wild. Lake Conroe is closed to civilian boaters. Had to go pick Luke up at work last night. He works as a Chef at La Teritta (sp) resort on the southwest corner of Lake Conroe. He had to wade out to my truck. His car is high and dry. I dropped him off at the golf course this morning and he hiked thru the golf course in his rubber boots. Gotta go pick him up this afternoon. Lake Conroe is about 4 feet above full elevation. Saw Sheriff dept. airboats going into San Jacinto river below dam on FM105. It is bad. 36 water rescues Thursday night alone.

Got the tractor and CAT hunkered down in front of the barn. Water went over my 9 foot offset disc and brush hog. Now I gotta clean out gear box and regrease all bearings on the disc. Water photos on my cell phone. Been too busy fighting water to send them to this computer.

Got Mahindra stuck yesterday morning after water went down. Water came back up yesterday afternoon. I was stupid and drove it over the north end of last years corn. Went down to both axles before I could back out. Thank GOD for front end loaders and backhoes. It was so bad..................my rubber boots were sinking it also. But a few 2x6s and huge limbs under the tires and I was out. Pulled out 2.....25 foot 16 inch diameter cerosote (sp) poles out of my gully. My neighbor's. More later.

The ark above could move all my equipment, but my son could really need an airboat. Then he could cross Lake Conroe and go over the golf course to the restaurant where he works.
So................can anyone loan us an airboat? Getting tired of waking up at 5am to take him to work on my days off! Takes about an hour for round trip around to other side of lake..............twice a day. He is gonna call a flatbed wrecker to see how much to haul him a block and a half!

Correct. As I stated in post #6340..... Lake Conroe is closed to civilian boaters.

The lake is only open to non powered boats. I was only thinking out loud. I have helmed an airboat before, in 4-5 feet of water, after timing the mags. I wouldn't want to take one in deep, open water. Or anywhere waves could be.

^^^^THIS!!!!! Thursday was a great day until about 4:45pm, then the gates of heaven opened and rain came for the next 24 hours here. Water filled ditches and was flowing down roads. Many high water rescues in and around our place, but we stayed dry. Just some excitement for the kids watching water sheet flow across the place... Power and internet finally back today. I will give a recommendation on a generac standby generator. Thing was flawless from Thursday right on through and we had full use of everything. Today I spent a few hours helping a buddy clean up from flooding at his family's place not far from Spring creek. About four foot of water in the buildings. So sad and what a mess. If anyone in area needs a hand, just say the word.

Here are some shots from after the storms yesterday. Lots of water had already drained out. Lake Conroe Spillway is getting after it, so the poor folks downstream on the West Fork of the San Jacinto and also those on Spring Creek were getting wet yesterday and today. Stay safe all!

Rail Road Bridge East of I45 and 1488 - usually a lot more daylight under there...

Three Palms MX Track under there somewhere - West of I45

Most of the equipment made it to the hill where the shop is, but there were trucks, trailers, and even boats that were flipped over and in the water... Those buildings are built up about 6', and the river bed is about an 1/8th mile north of here...

Neighborhood Park had about 4' too much water even after a night of draining...

Poor dog was even confused...

Brazos is expected to crest at 53.7 feet by Thursday here in Brazoria county.. that is the second highest mark recorded since 1913, the record is 56.4 feet.. the land between Angleton and West Columbia,, that where the Brazos river runs somewhat low land.. most homes are build up but not that high.. so lot of water in homes.. The Brazos overflow dumps into Oyster creek which flow thru Lake Jackson.. Where I live.. Oyster creek over flow dumps into Bastrop bayou which run thru my land.. where the cows live.. but they down think it will be problem with flooding.. I have some friends that live in the flood zone that has horses.. They called and wanted to know if they could stall them at my place for few days,, We have ten stalls we don't use.. other than storage (junk).. So looks like I will have someone to talk too.. lol.. I will teach them to ask for a favor.. Lou ,, stay dry..

Where is your place Brandi? We had 12-14" here in Cypress, plenty at the property near Smithville. Parts of Bastrop close to us got 14-17" in 36 hours, but we're dry now. My parents over in Spring.. That creek is at historic levels.

Two miles East of Willis. Anyone need firewood...........come on out and take all you need. $20 a pickup load. I haven't cut it up yet. Just hauled one huge oak beside the burn pile in two pieces. Would be a pity to burn in on the burn pile. Two huge uprooted oaks still intact and green from the April storm.
