19970202 - Sunday,
I was playing groundhog, down in the front trench coating the rest of the front foundation and left side with tar. I had to wait for warm enough days to spread the foundation coating.

Under front porch:

Under side porch:

Left side around chimney foundation:

Note the recess in the deck, where hearth will get poured.
Water line eventually enters foundation just right of chimney base about a foot above the footer.

Maybe I should have left the moat with drawbridge to the front door.

19970203 Monday

Then there was trouble. Dirt slid down onto front footer before the foundation drain got installed. Fortunately not from under the porch footer that sits 5’ higher than the house footer.

Took off half day early from work and coated the remainder of the west wall and back wall.

The 2 stub outs on the west side is to tie in the future garage footers.

Did you have to dig that out with a shovel?

I sure did, but just enough to get my drain pipe in and covered and inspected. The large chucks did not go all the way down, so mostly loose dirt. But still a lot of work.

In this part of the great State of Missouri, you don't leave a hole open very long...… :(

Fortunately never fell from under the porch footer. Top of house footer to bottom of porch footer 4’4” and inside of porch wall is 5’ out from house wall, so almost 45°.

I decided I needed wall space more than a door.
Here is the header area with a picture of the house.
