This day in 1997, of my house build

I suggested yesterday about turning the 2 car garage 24x30 into a downstairs master suite, with bedroom, laundry, full bath all handicap accessible. We could always put up another pole building as a detached garage. Our cars are parked outside 99% of the time.

I would attempt it, but smaller 1 story house. Wife would say no.

That was the extent of our last build of the cottage. Took me way longer than anticipated. Not that I missed doing things or changes, I was really just a lot slower. Carrying just a few 2x4s now Vs. 10 at a time before..... endurance was about half of what it was when I built our last house 27 years ago....

The brain says “ yeah, I can do it “, but everything else says “ you have lost you mind “ !! I think small projects are the only thing going to be done.

I was telling my wife I might try to sell my radial arm saw and joiner. Haven’t used them in years. But I still might want to do some woodworking when I retire.

Electrical rough in passed inspection

After work, started connecting some basement lights.

Picked up basement steps, ordered custom oak steps for upstairs.

Bank inspector came for next draw.
No work on house.

Made master bedroom walk-in closet bigger and moved the door location.

Hutch helped
Install basement stairs
Stain 4 front windows
Install telephone and coax cables.
Went to a cookout.
Watch fireworks, sons first time.

I hear you on the over priced subs. Just as bad as over priced lumber materials. Rant over.

Enjoying your build. We took notes of what happened on each build day because the wife wants to make a book of the progress, problems, etc. We took a lot of pictures, but not enough of some detail shots. Jon
