This day in 1997, of my house build

We've been in our house almost a year. I might mistakenly say we built a new house, but it would be a total mistake on my part. I hope I don't do that often.....

I did some small elements of the build but I certainly didn't build my house. I am not capable. Mentally I'm talking about. Not physically. Mental is that hard part. I mentally supported my builders all the way!!!

19970403 Thursday

Took off work
Excavation co started digging for septic. (I have no pictures of the septic install)
Worked on back of 10 ft extension roof. Done except for sheathing.
Installed electric outlet at panel. No more generator!!

No work on my Anniversary

Hutch helped 6 hrs
Bert helped 5 hrs
All roof sheathing on.
Felt on 10 ft section, right dormer.

I do a lot of work alone. I don't mind working alone at all. But then when I get some help I realize how slow my progress is when working alone.

Really taking shape now!!!!

During every house build there are milestones that really make you feel good. Getting felt on the roof to keep rain out is a really big one!!!

Finish framing inside of bedroom skylight
Little more felt on roof.

After work, put on little more roof felt.

19970408 Tuesday

After work, more felt on roof. Slower on the steeper roof.

Got concrete slab finishing prices.

19970411 Friday

Took truck in to get worked on, overheating.
Took day off work
Parents came for weekend.
Bank inspection for 2nd draw on loan.
Finished roof felt. House officially dryed in.
Cut ridge vent.
Install remaining collar ties at left dormer.
Start install porch header.
