1*The AWS maneuverability kicks butt for mowing.
2*The AWS is awesome for bucket work in tight quarters.
3*No loader? Big deal!
4*The JB Sr. has done everything I needed it to do and more.
5*It's just great to see how many people feel that you must have a loader and a 4 wheel drive sub-CUT or your wasting your money.
==========
***********************
1*If 2WS is more than adequate to handle your mowing needs why pay more to get an AWS?
2*I didn't know you could get a loader on the AWS!
3*It is a big deal if you need lifting height and want to use a set of clamp on bucket forks.
4*How would it do with a set of bucket forks clamped on it?
5*You are wasting money in situations where a S-Cut will do everything and more than a GT.

Not picking on the x749 here ;but just showing other views.

3* Neither the Kubota or Deere SCUTs can mow where an X749 can. Nor can they turn as well.
5* A man with three equivalent tractors cannot have anything intelligent to say about money and overkill.

3*But If you don't have places like that to mow why go AWS?
5*He can when 3 different tractors would have cost him 10 15 or 20 thousand more than he has invested in the 3 three equivalent tractors to do the same jobs.

So now we're comparing tractors with aircraft? Apples to Oranges? Doesn't make sense to me. Unless you mean if it was an aircraft, having two engines can be better than one (On the same aircraft) is the same as having two BX1500's. Fuzzy logic!!

No, I was comparing 2 tractors by referencing a statement commonly used in aviation that might help in making a decision on which way (model tractor) to go. I think you missed the point.

3* Because the X7xx can mow rocky, steep, hilly, ie difficult, terrain better than any SCUT too. Even if you don't need AWS. I don't _need_ AWS and I still couldn't mow my property with a SCUT.
5* If you can do the same job with all of your tractors, and you don't use them at the exact same time, you've wasted $20K+ and counting so that you didn't have to switch implements. If that kind of convenience and or laziness is worth that huge pile of money to you, you obviously have more money than you know what to do with.

Same as my CC and BX.

I was surprised how quiet this set up is, compared to the belt driven system on the smaller riding lawn mowers.

1*Why can a 2 wheel x700 mow rocky, steep, hilly, ie difficult, terrain better than any SCUT?
By better do you mean nicer looking or easier maneuvering on such terrain?
2*All I can say is 1 BX23 and 2 BX1500s and the attachments i own came out thousands less than 1 BX23 and 2 JDx700s and the same attachments.
3*No I don't have money to burn is why I went with the 3 Kubotas instead of 1 Kubota and 2 x700s

1* Because it has better weight distribution, is closer to the ground, and is less tippy on side hills. And its not as tall for getting under branches and not as wide for getting into tighter spots. In other words, its a dedicated mower as opposed to a small do-it-all type machine. Though it can do it all to a small extent.
2,3* You're missing the whole point. Do you use all three of your tractors at once? Everything you do with the other two can be done with the one. So you have extra tractors for convenience. So you have money to burn. Can you point to another member on this site that has even two of the same tractor for personal use?

1) Agreed! And a 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steer X749 will perform even better on that terrain. I have had mine in positions where that extra turning capability helped me change orientation on a slope so I could easily go up or down the slope and where with a CUT I could not have been able to change that direction without running into a tree or otherwise been stopped by the roll bar. As you mention the CG is significantly lower you can certainly feel the difference.

2) The point LB makes here is that he got such a great deal dollar wise. Kudos for him. But no matter how much of a financial wizzard one may be, it doesn't make something perform differently. If he doesn't have some of the difficult, or steep terrain that some of us have, he just may never get the point. His tractors perform for what he needs, but maybe not for some others.

This sounds a little like an older lady I know where she would buy something she did not need simply because its original cost was $20 and she paid $2 for it and then she would boast about what a great deal she got.

A 2WD John Deere 1435 commercial front-mower, with comparable horsepower and a 60" deck costs around $19,600. A John Deere commercial Z-trak mower with a 60" deck costs $15,800. Seems that an X749 equipped balls to the walls is a great alternative as a commercial mower/grounds/landscaping machine. It will out maneuver a Z-trak in many situations, plus has the capability to run front/rear PTO grounds and landscaping equipment. The 1435 only has a front PTO. The X749 is Made in USA, designed by BMW's DesignWorks, and supported by the largest, well, John Deere. Only some people are cognizant to the fact that dollar for dollar, a machine doesn't have to have each and every capacity and capability as another less costly machine. some people think you need to get more than you need.....buy a Nortrak.....The Deere X744 or 749 is in a class by itself, should be a category by itself and the price reflects the sum of it's parts, the manufacturing, the quality of the unit, etc...... I always think of autos when this topic comes up because people will pay a lot for a BMW that will do the same as a Hyundai, meaning move people around. Or a Vette costs a lot more than a Caravan which will do way more right?

Well said. In the case with the lady, she wasted $2 in my eyes but it was worth the bragging rights to her. In the case of LB, he wasted $20K in my eyes, which would have been better spent on one larger tractor, but apparently he sees something in the value of it the rest of us don't.
