Thoughts on MX5100...a couple of questions

Sounds like your brother is going all out! Which is very good:thumbsup:

I've realized through my tractors that getting a tractor that is a bargain doesn't work out because you end up kicking yourself later, my next tractor I'm going to do right, which your brother is doing this time.

Will he have to order it now or does the dealer have a 5100 HST on the lot? Be sure to get some pics of your bros tractor whenever it arrives!

That is EXACTLY the rationale he is following. He can save a few grand and part together the 'perfect' tractor over the next year or two, or he can just suck it up and get what he knows he will need. I think it will be a very nice rig.

And no, they do not have the tractor on-site. They actually just sold the geared 5100 he had his eye on originally, so they don't have any MX tractors there.

No big deal. Good things come to those who wait.

How can I get my hands on a KUBOTA MX5100 OPERATING MANUAL before I actually order it? I'd like to know more about it before I put the order in, yet it seems to be impossible which makes me think there might be problems to operate them than appears the case by not permitting a buyer the opurtunity to look at before instead till after when you realise it does not do what you'd hoped it would.

Sometimes you cant remember everything you want in a tractor until after and when I;m going to be spending good money...cant afford to make any mistakes.

Anyone got a pdf which can be downloaded?

Thanks guys.

Owners manual will only tell you the basic operation of the unit how to check oil, air filter etc. The specs are on Kubota's website. If they have the L4400 on the lot try that on for size pretty similar, or the M5040 (I think) is the next size up. But don't buy something without first trying it out to see if you like how it feels, power, control layout etc. There are not any " problems" with the MX tractors, no conspiracies to keep you from looking at them, perhaps your dealer just does not have any, go to another dealer.

Thanks for the advice guys... i'm starting to get quotes...but got a month or two before a decision. Interest rates are 2.9% for 3 years with one third down as a deposit in Australia...so you guys in the USA have got cheaper prices, zero interest and maybe even zero downpayment...yours are better deals..

The incentives to buy are pretty good right now "if" you can afford it. You have to have good credit and good history to buy at these rates though. A few years ago even great credit would have gotten you maybe low interest rate of 1-3% . If you had average scores (600-690) and decent history, it took a good chunk of $$$ down to get that rate. I would call around to other dealers and see if the one on the lot to try out, even the MX 4700 will do (same tractor) . Another thing to look at is if you want a cab (now or later) the mx4700/5100 may not be for you, there is no panel under the seat, and fab one will be a bit of a pain to do(not impossible but may cost a bit of $$$ to fabricate).

Dealer says MX5100 does not have its own factory made Back Hoe and is suggesting the L5740 over the MX5100. Any comments of which is better except for extra HP?

Well the L5740 is the "luxury" tractor where the MX is a base tractor, so just about everything on the 5740 will be nicer and more comfortable - but also more expensive...

I thought the kubota bh90 was the standard kubota backhoe for the mx. Dont quote me tho, thats just my thought.
