Wow, you've been busy.

I asked about the location of the house because I've thought about a reception hall on our place. Our town could use one. But our house is here and I'm with you about having work a bit aways.

A young friend of mine just married last year. He and his wife chose a place, based on some architect's plans and not much else was even started being built. They got it for Friday, Saturday, and out by 10 am Sunday with both the wedding and reception there for a sum of $5000 (early deposit, pre-build price). His father told me on the day of the wedding, that it was now going for around $13,000.

Peach Creek Ranch

I see they offer a Sun 10am to Mon 10am package still for $5K. Seems more couples are getting married on Sundays now.

My Saturdays filled first. Now that they are full we are booking a few Sunday's. I have a couple months that all booked. The rest have 1 to 2 Sunday weddings per month. We are offering a weekend package for our 2019 bookings Friday thru Sunday as an option.

I finished decking the outside porches today. My contractor should be here Wed to install the metal roofing. As soon as we get the metal on we can get our exterior doors installed as well. Sheetrock is also finished. We picked up paint today. Tomorrow I will move back inside to finish the inside ceilings. I am hoping by next weekend to be finished installing t&g ceilings inside, have paint done, and be ready for lighting fixtures and trim. As soon as I get all of this wood out of the building I'll have some room to get started building the bar as well.

looking great! Are you doing all the work? If so, Wow!

I've done all of the t&g install myself. Subbing out the metal install. My wife and kids have been helping poly it all. Moving back inside to work on ceilings now. Only about 40% done inside.

Hopefully it's a bit warmer inside. :)

It is. Had one nice day outside then 20's for the rest. Got the temp at 50 inside which is a nice working temp.

Dropped by tonight to check on the tile work for the house/bridal suite upstairs. Looks like tile is just about wrapped up. We tore out all of the old linoleum floors and replaced with tile. The fiberglass shower insert in the master bath was also removed for a tile shower as well as new tile around the bathtub.

How will metal roof tie into existing building siding?

How will metal roof tie into existing building siding?

The metal on the upper half of the building above the porches stays. Metal roofing will get tied into it. I'm assuming they are using some type of flashing or drip channel that will tuck behind the existing metal siding. Guess I'll find out on Wed when they start the install.

Every project has their hicups but this one is getting frustrating. A couple of days ago I took a closer look at our door frames in anticipation of getting them installed now that the outside porches are covered. I noticed that the threshold is installed backwards and is on the inside of the building and slopes into the building with no outside threshold. After several phone calls and finally a visit from the supplier to look at the doors in person he is trying to insist that it is installed correctly. I am currently waiting for a resolution.

Here's the outside of the door frame These are outswing doors due to being a commercial setting. Notice no threshold.

Here's the inside of the door frame with the threshold sitting inside of the building and sloping to the interior.

not sure if I am seeing it right but yeah, the threshold should be to the outside.

Door frames are on their sides in the pics. The black threshhold in the bottom pic is on the interior side of the door frame and slopes into the building.

I made some headway yesterday on the issue. The supplier finally admitted that the factory does not typically make outswing doors. They simply made in inswing then instructed us to turn it around the opposite direction for an outswing but did not modify the threshold accordingly.

The supplier picked up the smaller door frame yesterday. They are going to cut the jams 3/4" shorter and modify for a low profile saddle threshhold. They think they can make it work without having to order new frames.

Ceilings are finally finished both inside and outside. It's really nice to be done with this part of the project which took close to 1,300 pieces of t&g. My body is beat and needs a rest. We plan to start cleaning up tomorrow and maybe start installing some of my track lighting. My wall sconces will be in Tuesday and will try to get those installed next week as well. My HVAC contractor showed up yesterday and put together most of the insulated duct for the main trunk lines.

Nothing quite as painful as having a deadline looming ahead of you and knowing that no matter what, it has to be done!!!!!

It didn't help that my wife agreed to hold a retirement party here next weekend for her boss. They are all aware it's still a work in progress so we just need heat, bathrooms, and open floor space. Only about 40 people so the backup plan is to move it to the house if needed.
