Sorry replied about the picture you showed of the floor with the compass rose you did. Did not think it would kick it 4 pages back.

Stonework for the columns is just about completed and ahead of schedule. I made the mistake of letting my stone masons lay the concrete block without getting a price first. I knew what the stonework was going to cost so how much could laying block cost right? Wow I was wrong and a little upset but now one to blame but myself. I've spent the last few days doing the stonework on the remaining 4 columns myself in order to get back on budget. Waiting on my electrician to bring the sub panel and mount to the back of one of the columns then I can finish stone on the last one.

I was able to finish sticking stones today. Should be able to get most of the mortar done on Sunday. Going to have my stamped concrete guy pour some cap stones for me. I didn't plan on doing any of the stonework myself on this project as I've never done it before however that may change now. Depending on the amount of free time I can come up with I may tackle the stonework when we move to the building.

I might have missed it, but what are the stone columns for?

I'm guessing they are for lighting. Will you have weddings at night, or in the evening?

Since you already have weddings, what do you do about drunks? Have you ever had anybody go off roading after a wedding, or something stupid like that?

Thanks Buckeye

Eddie sorry for the slow reply. Even though July 4th is long gone we are still super busy with firework shows. Had 4 over the weekend to shoot Finished the rest of the mortar on the columns today. The stone columns are simply decorative. They help frame the patio nicely and will give a place for flower baskets or any other type of decoration. I have conduit run close to the tops in case I ever want to add lights on top. We will either down or uplight them for weddings as we will have several at dusk or even at night for some late fall weddings. They also gave me a place for outlets. I've run power to all of them and placed an outlet on the backside of each.

As far weddings and drunks we have been doing mainly wedding receptions for 15 years now. The problems have been few. I've had to do some sheetrock repair in the restrooms a few times after someone puts a fist through the wall. Couple of broken doors. Never had anyone go off-roading but do have to drag the parking lot on occasion from someone doing donuts. The biggest problem I have is damage to tables unrelated to drunks. People tend to load them up heavy with stuff when setting up then drag them later on across the floor instead of using two people to pick them up and carry them. Sometimes its enough to bend the legs or pull screws out of the brackets.

We now have power for the outdoor area. Panel and all outlets are installed. Should have caps for the stone columns by the end of the week. We are going to do poured concrete using molds similar to the pergola base for those. Next step is going to be landscaping and lighting. Patio work for the building will start as soon as the trees turn so we can spade them and move them back from the building.

Caps for stone columns are done. Our concrete contractor dropped them off today. I'll need to pull them back off and mortar them in over the weekend. The timberframer also ordered the timbers from the mill today. Next step is going to be curbing for mulch and landscape lighting. We are about 2 weeks out from moving the trees next to the building and starting on the patio work on it.
