I can't help you on the clutch issue still but I do know the 12x12 tranny is a great tranny. The 8x8 is nice for a pure utility stand point where you just want a simple tractor but I regret not buying a 12x12 now as my operation has grown a lot since I bought my TN. The 12x12's I have used though have been great, you can always find the right gear with this tranny. I have not used the 16x16 and I wonder if it is just a creeper range added to the 12x12.

I don't know about the pump either. If I get a chance I will stop at my dealer and pick their brains a bit.

I have been doing lots of site work (house lots) with my landscape rake and am really really really loving the power shuttle on my TC55DA. It makes it real easy to work back and forth in smallish areas.

I leave the hand throttle all the way down and just use the foot throttle. On flat ground I just let off the throttle and flick the PS lever. Often I'm turned around and concentrating more on feathering the position lever to raise/lower the rake a bit. I never touch the clutch (or inching pedal as the case may be) and I rarely touch the brakes on flat ground.

It's going to be great for snow plowing too.

For pure ag work - dunno if the PS would matter. But I sure like it.

I use my DX55 exactly as DieselME describes, including the throttle. I love it.

Robert...Id be interested in what your dealer has to say. If you can get transmission ground speeds out of him I would be real interested in that. From the TN blurb it sounds like the 16x16 is more than just low end...although it left alot to the imagination as well. I called my dealer yesterday for some of this info but the guy I was working w/ was on vacation. The salesman I spoke to only really knew Kubotas and not much else...although he really did make a good effort to help. On the bright side of that conversation I think Ill wind up w/ a Vermeer TR90 tedder/rake. Its exactly what Im looking for in a combo machine and gets real high marks. I thought Fella was my only choice to that point.

Yes, you can feather the manual clutch (I do it all the time when mowing), just like a car.

approximate ranges on my 16x16 (PTO rpm--2250)
A: 0 to 1.2 mph (yeah, all 4 gears)
B-low. 1mph to 5.1mph
B-high 2mph to 6.3mph
C: 5mph to 20mph (you can get an optional high gear that will do 40kph

A is the ground work one, C is the transport one
I use the two B's a lot

I think that a 12x12 should be minimum in any tractor, I've made that 8x8 mistake before

Thanx Brian...that helps a good bit. When you bought your machine was the price of the PS 16x16 given as a line item? How many remotes did you wind up w/?

Edit: Never mind on that question about the transmission. I see now its the only one you can get w/ a cab I think.

a PS is AWESOME for back and forth work (like with a FEL), but otherwise, you almost never use it. With no loader on yours, save the 1500 bucks and get the synchro shuttle.

Does that help?

I agree, a PS is awesome. I use it with my snow blower, tiller, bush hog.

If you buy a TN, make sure you get the skid plate for the fuel tank! It was an option when mine was built. I have one on mine and it will save that tank from some very nasty surprises.

The tank is located up behind the operator. I didnt notice where it went from there but I dont recall it being exposed or inordinately low. Could you give some more details about your recommendation. Is it that it could be punctured by mower throw backs? Just curious as I would have never thought about skid plates for my application.

The bulk of the tank is below the left rear axle. The part you see behind the seat is just a small tank to give the TN more capacity.

Mine was built this year (like in April), it's not an option anymore, just has a big steel plate holding it up now. (so, that's a good thing)
Not that my TN runs, but you know, when it does it's real nice.

The PS was definately an option, it was $1500 more than the non-PS. I think (don't quote me) you can get the 16x16 non-PS in a cab.

I got 3 remotes. 2 from factory, one dealer installed (that's how they come) plus of course, the mid-mount valves for the loader. I haven't used the rear remotes yet, but I might some day.
